When Zane brought together the countries of the world into the unified Empire of Kanskownpqey, he instituted a year system based on the event of the city of Galt arriving, as Galt became the capital of Kanskownpqey. The year is abbreviated as A.U.A. or A.U., standing for anno urbis adventum, “the year of the city coming”. The year of 0 A.U.A. is the same year as Earth’s A.D. 1343. Years before this date are denoted with A.A., ante adventum, “before the coming”, and are dated backwards.
He broke down the time into 12 months of 5 weeks consisting of 6 days in a week, with a 5 day extra week counted as a 13th 'month' of sorts, referred to as Festivalis. Every 4 years is a leap year, where there are 6 days in Festivalis.
