Orcish Religion

The people of the Orcish Wilds are not a cohesive group, but instead are made up of numerous tribes of varying cultures. Still, there are certain traits, overall tendencies and stories that trend throughout most of the Wilds.   Orcs use the same names for deities that are used byelves and humans, but they have a different perspective. They believe that Dasos, god of nature, created the world initially, and created several other deities in the process, including Apatii, Seir, and Sidik. Seir was insistent on upholding a ridiculously complex set of rules, whereas Apatii was a god of freedom. Sidik was the goddess of beauty, but for some reason she chose to marry Seir. Initially (according to the orcs) these three got along well enough initially and decided to create several sentient beings. However, as Seir wanted to have them all confine themselves in walled cities behind a bunch of rules, Apatii advocated freedom. Some people chose to follow Seir, while others followed Apatii. The two groups diverged in physical appearance, with the followers of Seir becoming humans (and elves), while followers of Apatii turned into orcs. Some orcs believe the original people were all beautifully chaotic orcs, but Seir made them look much more bland by removing tusks and making their skin boring brown instead of the vibrant green associated with nature.   The war between Apatii and Seir grew fierce, as they could not agree about anything. Humans and orcs were murdering each other over their conflict in philosophy. Orcs refused to allow Seir's bureaucratic philosophy spread over the whole world. More and more powerful of magics were researched, until someone hit upon a particularly powerful possibility: necromancy. The orcs began raising their dead and sending them right on to keep fighting.   While Dasos, the Creator, hadn't really seemed to care about the war (though orcs assumed he would prefer their philosophy of exploration, given how much wonder in the world Dasos had created for them to explore and enjoy), but suddenly he took an interest. Strong storms emerged in battlefields wherever necromancy was at play, decimating the orcs in particular, and driving them far from the strongholds of Seir, and into a more hostile territory to the west. While bitter, orcs adjusted to their new homeland. Their emotions cooled to an extent, and they determined to simply build the society they wanted where they were, instead of trying to constantly fight with humans. Though skirmishes with humans continued.   Even to this day, most orcs worship Apatii. Necromancy is generally used sparingly (though it is always known of), as no one wants to incur the wrath of Dasos. A few orcs, impressed with the sheer power of Dasos, have chosen to pray to him in particular, as opposed to Apatii. Sidik, as the goddess of beauty, is also respected, in spite of the fact that she is married to Seir. But most orcs feel quite bitter towards Seir.
