Moon-Elf Housing

When the Moon-Elves first came to be and resurfaced from the Underdark they were not used to the environmental and logistical issues that they now faced, they at first resorted to the building techniques that they had done for thousands of years as the Drow and their buildings were stout and large but with the increased rain from their weather magic these were frequently flooded by the rain as well as it being difficult to obtain the necessary stone to house so many.   With time they came to learn of surface architecture with a greater understanding and their buildings began to look more like the other surface dwellers. The most recognisable feature of Laan'ithilian housing is the steepness of the roofs, being built to withstand the rainstorms that frequent the region but many of the other aspects to their buildings are often borrowed from other cultures with a mixture of outside influences.

Architecture

Laan'ithilian architecture is now a mixture based on several nearby locations, they feature the same wooden beams as many human cultures with some changes adapted from other neighbours such as painted walls or ornamentation. Moon-elf buildings are often built with tall steep roofs to keep rain from sitting within the structure and down into guttering in the streets below.   They are often built from wood from the nearby forests with stone foundations with the ground floor being built at least a metre above the street level in order to keep rain from coming in. Many houses in the city are two or even three floors high with extra space in the roof which some convert into a smaller extra room. It is common for the walls to have plaster across them which are painted in warm colours of greens, purples and reds both inside and out.
