Bronze coins that have been made for the past decades of the empire that is easily gained. It's the preferred currency due to it's flame-like appearance.
Only approved blacksmith mages can produce these which are them marked with special magic. This magic can be sensed by other merchants by pressing the seal that the Empire gives them to travel inside their borders up against the coins. If the coins flare up like fire, they are real. If they don't, they are not legit coins and lose their value.
Pirates and bandits often try to counterfeit this to sell to naive buyers and some have been caught with a wanted reward that will leave someone rich for a year.
