Isle of Onogoro

The island of Onogoro is a rich, natural, blessed isle, where the beauty of nature is exemplified and exalted, where the mortals and the gods have the opportunity to exist in peace.

Geography

Onogoro island has no defined place in the oceans of Japan, as it wanders and moves according to the will of the gods and the whims of the ocean currents. The island itself is 7000 Ri (Or 27,489km) in diameter, just over the equivalent size of RL Sicily. The island is dominated by a central colossal five spoked mountain, called Five Element Mountain, which is seven Ri (27km) in height and 700 Ri (2,700 km) in diameter. Each peak is topped by a giant statue representing one of the five Japanese elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind and Void. The Water Spoke of the Five Element Mountain has a gigantic waterfall that blooms from seemingly nowhere just under the peak, bringing freshwater to all the island below, forming into five large lakes spread evenly around the island, each connected to each other and the surrounding sea by a river each.

Fauna & Flora

The land is covered in natural Japanese flora: The upper parts of the mountains are a veritable orchard of Japanese trees, such as Plum Blossom, Peach and Sakura, with a steady transition into grassland that flows down the mountains like a carpet. Dense forest surrounds the base of the mountain for a Ri (3.92km), with shrubland spreading out all the way the edge of the island. The wildlife consists of, yet again, natural Japanese wildlife: From wild Macaques to swift Deer to elegant Cranes, the wildlife has free reign over the land. But they instinctively veer away from the tops of the mountains and the orchards- The air is too thin for them up there, even for those normally acclimated to such heights.

Natural Resources

While the orchards at the top are off limits, the sheer amount of fruit that drops from them and rolls down the mountain can satisfy the needs of the hungriest of creatures. The dense forests at the base of the mountain has very hardy wood, used for buildings, firewood, etc. The shrubland has very fertile soil from all the fruit rolling down into it, and can be plowed up to grow any kinds of plant life a visitor would bring. The fruits from the peak, however, never grow below the peak orchard line, no matter how fertile the soil may be.
