The Second Year of Gho; The Year of Marrow Goldenpaw

After the first monarch of Eufala, Queen Ola made a treaty with the King of Accipities that drove the predators from Eufala by making them fair game to the predatory birds. All, but the cats.

After the exodus of the predatory birds from Eufala, there was an influx of non-flighted predators that had no other predators to contend with. In their wake, the clever Queen Ola went to the King of Accipities and made a bargain, so long as his people did not hunt the song birds, they would be free to hunt any other animal in Eufala. And so the raptors descended on Eufala and drove the ground predators out. All but three families of cats who refused to leave. When all the other predators had left and no one remained to draw attention, the matriarchs of each family requested an audience with Queen Ola and were granted. They requested full citizenship in Eufala and in return they would never hunt any song bird in Eufala. Queen Ola was not so easily swayed by their promises and required they be bound not to hunt any citizen of Aviat or those under its protection. Though the younger matriarchs bristled, the eldest, and most cunning, agreed and offered her family to Queen Ola as defenders of Eufala. She swore that if the Queen of Eufala called, The Goldpaws would answer. And so they were granted citizenship in Eufala. For a while they hunted those in the kingdom of Chiron, but grew weary of the travel and danger and began hunting fish. They found some of the song birds and even raptors willing to work with them in their fishing and soon grew to be the three largest families in Gho. While all three families have their trademark sandy colored fur, they paint their fur with stripes and designs which mark which family they belong to.
