Veterun
"When Winter comes you endure or you succumb to the frosts"
The Enduring Winter
The chief deity among the Jotunur, Veterun commands both the respect of the lands of forever winter and all Jotunn. To the Jotunur Veterun represents the paralyzing frozen winds and blizzards that blanket Amdor and many of Iskara's mountain ranges, the enduring nature of the life that survives in such environments, and the calm challenge of stagnation and stasis.
Over the centuries Veterun's domains and influence had shifted among the Jotunar and Jotunkyn. To the Jotunar Veterun is seen as a more neutral spirit, one that shares similar domains. To the Jotunkyn however, Veterun is seen as more akin to a demon than wise spirit. Given the Jotunkyn's proclivities towards more earthly and pyro-centric elements, Veterun is seen as the antithesis to Jotunkyn nature. As a result Jotunkyn tend not to look to favorable towards Veterun and his more devote followers.

Tenets of Faith
Veterun has several tenets that, when followed, will guide the Jotunur people to regain the power of their once great empire. First, stand strong and unmoving in the face of insurmountable odds, second, respect the white wolves for they are the messengers of Veterun's will and a guide through the arctic wastes, third, to respect the spirits, especially Veterun, is to respect the world itself, fourth, understand that Veterun's domain of stasis is a barrier to be broken, and lastly,
Holidays
Less a holiday and more of a challenge to those that seek it, the Eve of Veterun's Grasp is a sacred event. For those that accept, the brave and foolish alike, an invisible danger awaits. The celebrants are sent into the northern wastes with little supplies and even less clothing. They must travel to the Rimestriga, a sacred shrine said to be the birthplace of Veterun, where they all rest in its presence and must survive through the frigid night. Those that return before dawn are respected for their attempt, those that perish are committed the frozen land, but those that return at dawn are honored and bestowed the title of Rimestrika, the Ice Bitten.

Personal history
Said to be born from the first blizzard, Veterun roamed the tundra and arctic wastes of northern Amdor. He grew tired of the biting frosts so he commanded it, bent it to his will, so that one day those worthy enough to challenge his domain could thrive.
During the time of the great and ancient Jotunn Empire Veterun was the chief deity of their pantheon. All who would call themselves Jotunn worshipped Veterun and prayed, not to spared the hardships of their environment but for the strength to face it. In time however, this great empire began to crack. A large sect seceded and poor leadership accelerated its fall. It is said that Veterun summoned demonic storms to batter and paralyze those that had forsaken and betrayed his spiritual guidance. As the empire and the Jotunn peoples continued to fracture Veterun began to fall out of favor among his once strong worshippers but what would become the Jotunur, the Frost Jotunn, would continue to worship Veterun as their chief deity.
For centuries the Jotunur would continue to stay devote to their ancestral god and thrive in Amdor, surpassing their fallen empire in their ability to connect and command the frost. However, his favor would decline among the Jotunar and Jotunnul. The Stone Jotunn would grow to despise the cruel ice spirit and the Storm Jotunn would become indifferent, seeing it wiser to appease the greater spirit to avoid his wrathful scorn.
Like all of the gods and spirits of Iskara, Veterun would too grow silent after the great war that was the Incursion from the Ventara. For centuries after, the Jotunn would survive without the guidance and blessings of their frozen god.
