Ironworking

Considered impossible for decades after the discovery of the metal "iron" in the bowls of the the mountain Ironcast Canine, of which the mountain was renamed to. Even attempts to extract this metal was tedious and difficult, even the stone surrounding it was difficult to separate from the ore itself. However the Ironbelt Brothers were tenacious and refused to give up on what power harnessing this new metal could grant them. But after years of experimentation Ba'zaubar Ironbelt finally managed to incorporate magic into his method to craft weapons, armor, and any other object from iron.

Utility

The stranglehold the Ironbelts have on ironworking has allowed them a martial advantage over most other kingdoms and Kanoia (see Battle at Plaza. And this advantage causes many Kanoia to eye the Ironbelt Brothers with fear and suspicion, due in no large part to their ruthless overtures.

Access & Availability

Smelted iron is a closely guarded secret, it is illegal for anyone but Duzanteer Dwarves to carry weapons or wear armor made of iron. It is also believed that the Ironbelt Brothers hire mercenaries and assassins to recover any iron weapons that enter anyone else service. However, sometimes one can purchase small tools like hammers or nails made out of iron without fear for repercussions.

Complexity

It is believed that an extremely costly and complex spell in conjunction with master smiths is what allows the forging of iron implements. Even after decades the method is unknown to the rest of the world.

Discovery

Ba'zaubar Ironbelt is credited with the discovery of how to successfully work iron into items consistently and with excellent craftsmanship, in the year 32 AR. It is believed he continues his research in an attempt to quicken the rate at which he can arm his family's army. Many come to try and learn the methods Ba'zaubar has developed, but so far he has rejected every offer.
