The Alliance

The Alliance, while headquartered in the Empire's capital, reaches far outside Drinnado and into Gadian territory. The leaders train and sponsor fighters who, in return for access to employment and resources, pledge to work for the betterment of the Gadian Empire, protecting the communities of the southern lands and assisting with natural and magical research. The group is there to help when citizens need defending but the heavy handed tactics of the Empire's military would not be appropriate. They also work to locate rare resources for the scientists and arcanists of the land. While there are many other, smaller, adventuring guilds in the Empire, the Alliance is by far the oldest and most reputable.   Currently led by famed mage and diviner Grady Malakai, an emphasis on learning and the protection of the people has been central to the guild's mission. Under the guidance of Malakai and his team of renowned adventurers, guild members are able to hone their own unique skills. Competent individuals can apply to join the Alliance through a series of mental and physical tests. While some combat experience is necessary for all entrants, any skill is considered useful and a variety of fighters, explorers and scholars are counted among the ranks of the guild. Notable Alliance names include rogue and minstrel Skyla Swiftbird, and arcane sharpshooter Lucleia Vareme.     You approach the entrance to the guild gall of the Alliance and open the large oak doors, old and worn but standing strong. Past the entrance foyer, you see a few guild members eating at the tables to your right, and the man at the bar gives you a nod as you walk past. Up ahead is a half elf sitting behind a counter, looking bored as he flips through a stack of papers. Off to the left a large staircase wends its way up to a balcony overlooking the common area, and a hallway leading into the second floor of the hall.   The guild owns a large boarding house and hall in central Drinnado where many of the high ranking members live on a semi-permanent basis in private quarters. Several rooms with bunks and lockers are rented by trainees and visiting guild members, while a common room and kitchen are available for daily use by all.   Like many adventuring and mercenary organizations, the Alliance accepts tasks both from the Gadian Empire' leadership as well as common citizens. Any request submitted is vetted by guild administration before being ranked by expected difficulty and posted with terms and payment details. Guild members can then apply for a task, with priority given to senior members.
