For a Paladin of the Knights of Yggdrasil, swearing their oath is so much more than a declaration of their path forward. It is a dedication to their duty and the people they serve, it is a level of empathy and perseverance that are needed to survive the harsh winters on the edge of the Neither Tundra. With this oath comes their entrance into an elite group of men and women who have given their lives so that those of the Northern Outposts could live a much safer life.
Once their oath as a Paladin is sworn, the fledgling fighters are inducted into the ranks of the Knights of Yggdrasil. They are granted the rank of Knight of the Order, a rank that comes will special meaning. Not all who serve in the order are Paladins. Only Paladins are granted the rank of Knight because their role is much greater than that of anyone else in the Order.
The Knights are meant to be peacekeepers, protecting and leading in times of peace, but they are also to be saviors, laying down their lives in times of war and hardship. For most of a Knight's life, they will serve the role of peacekeeper and neighbor, assisting in their cities and leading by example. While their numbers in the Order are small, the Knights are larger than life, bringing order in chaos and light in the darkness.

History

For over five millennia, the Knights of Yggdrasil have stood as a pillar of hope and faith in the Northern Outposts. Of all the ranks and titles found within the Order, the first to be established was the Knights of the Order, as the founder Eldrin Ylyndar believed that the Knights would serve as the heart and foundation of the Order he wished to build. Paladins who wished to swear an oath to their faith and their people were granted this title as a sign of reverence. While it meant little in the beginning when the Order's numbers were small, it meant more as the years continued on.
When the Order grew to include Warriors, Sorcerers, Rangers, and others, the Knights of the Order became the ones that embodied the mottos of both the Knights of Yggdrasil and the Ylyndar Clan. By Our Faith, Through the Order and Lead by Example, Live by the Code became the mantras that would lead the Paladins through both the Giant Wars and the Eldritch War relatively unscathed.
