Bhonn was born as the third child of
Selsvir and
Svaynin Llanowen, leaders of a prominent
Barbarian clan in the
Spine of Kallex. While not the oldest, Bhonn followed his father everywhere as a child, quickly learning how to organize large groups that covered many villages across a great distance. While his older siblings focused on the hunt and honing their skills in order to move outside the village, Bhonn looked for ways to stay in
Leverion, especially after meeting
Svethii when they were still little more than children.
As his siblings moved on to their own villages, Bhonn stayed in
Leverion, serving as his father's right-hand man and beginning a family of his own. The girl who once was a great friend became his wife and they welcomed three daughters into the world, even though the situation in the
Spine began to grow treacherous. As the years came closer to the beginning of the
Eldritch War, the
Orcs that had rarely strayed from their home in the
Moorlands became more adventurous, often entering the
Spine, but each difficulty just drove Bhonn's love of his family and the sense of duty he had.
The
Eldritch War did not leave the
Barbarians unscathed, often decimating their hunting grounds and turning simple hunts into battles with all manner of creatures that wished to take from them. The yearly movement with the seasons became more difficult as
Goblins and other ransacked ancient sites that had been home to their clan for thousands of years. Eventually, Bhonn would become a war leader, leading hunting parties that did little more than clear their homelands of those who had no right to be there.
Selsvir would slowly transition the clan and many other
Barbarians to be mercenaries for hire as the
Eldritch War reached its end and their way of life crumbled under the reality of decimated lands and numbers. Hunting was still a necessary part of life, but leading others through the
Spine and granting safe passage became a duty of its own, one that granted great purpose. Bhonn was one of these leaders, helping travelers cross
Qimbyr Pass and reach safety on either side. Even with the dangers of such trips, Bhonn would meet his end another way.
Between caravans, Bhonn and
Svethii would return to
Leverion, filling their roles within the clan much as they had before the
Eldritch War. Hunting trips with their daughters were often their favorite times, but this winter was particularly harsh, causing the girls to stay with their grandparents as their parents and a few others made their way out. The weather was frigid and the snow deep, but that wouldn't stop them from finding whatever fresh game came their way. Days passed with no sight of anything, somewhat dejected, the others chose to turn back, but Bhonn refused, continuing on with
Svethii to find whatever they could.
No one is entirely sure what type of beast ended the couple that day. The tracks were massive, far larger than anything ever seen in that area of the
Spine of Kallex. Years later, it was believed that they had crossed paths with a wayward
Dire Bear, one thousands of miles south of their normal homeland. A couple so full of life that had survived so much met their end somewhere in the
Spine, causing
Selsvir to question much about the way the
Barbarians lived.
The death of Bhonn and
Svethii struck a chord deep within the
Barbarians that had called the mountains home for millennia. Hunting parties became more robust and few we allowed to wander alone or even in pairs. Greater weapons were carried and some even chose to learn the innate magic that all
Elves had in order to better protect themselves. While the
Eldritch horrors that had come centuries before had not truly shaken them, this creature that no one could name that had erased two adept
Hunters changed these people forever.
Awww, this is such a sad tale. It makes sense that this caused his father to question things.
