Avian

Language of the Avians

This language belongs to the Avian people of the world and seems to share some vocal similarities with a dialect of Protarchikós known as Aéras with the added sound of peels that are unique to large bird species. Speakers of this language are almost exclusively members of the Avian race though there have been reports of large, intelligent birds being able to communicate some base ideas using this language as well. The script for this language seems to use imprecise, bulky letters that are always drawn with a harsh angle though notably there is a proper left or right-handed angle for each letter regardless of the dominant hand of the writer.   The earliest appearance of this language is tied to the emergence of the Avian race itself though some would argue that it has roots in all the combined languages of the birds of Isekai or in the Aéras language. Regardless, the script used for Avian appears to be made in a way that is best suited for talons so that it can more easily be written with the feet of an Avian than their hands. Another feature of the script is that it appears to be made in a fashion that encourages writers to use both their left and right hands, or feet, to write and alternate between their use to create specific letters. Because of these unique features, there is no known connection between this language's script and any others, any shape similarities have been written off as shapes that are easily made by the joints found in the talons of a bird. Academically this language has been considered sophisticated and difficult to properly perform without losing your voice over time. This language has a small presence in the world as most members of the Avian race will default to using Common, Elvish, or another language entirely to avoid speaking their native language to other creatures.   The advantages of speaking this language would be that few outsiders to the Avian race have mastered its speech and it would gain you a lot of attention in academic circles as well as when dealing with the native speaking race. Writing this language is also considered difficult and would usually indicate that you have the ability to be ambidextrous and may have some latent skill to dual wield weapons or at the very least perform complex tasks with both hands performing different actions. It should be noted as a cautionary tale that if a creature other than an Avian or a large bird uses this language in the presence of another avian creature that it usually drives them into an unexplainable frenzy.

I like the look of the alphabet. Really interesting overview of the language. I wonder why non-Avians speaking it drives avian creatures into a frenzy.
