Humans
Regional Populations: Spread across the entire world, Humans form one of the three foundations of civilization (alongside Elves and Oni).
Age Expectancy: Humans reach adulthood at 18, and are venerable at 70 years old. However, they can live up to 100 odd years.
If the races of the world are tools in a toolbox, humans are the claw hammer. Prolific, flexible, resilient, and with their own niche- if mundane- specializations. The oldest surviving race, they have survived by way of as much pluck as adaptability.
From a clinical perspective, humans are bipedal mammals with an average lifespan of 60-70 years. Males average 5’ 8” (1.72m) and 180lbs. (81.65kg), and females average 5’4” (1.62m) and 120lbs. (54.45kg). Females produce on average one live offspring after a gestation of 9 months, and said child will be dependent on parental care until it reaches adulthood at 18 years. As to amount of offspring, it ranges on average from three to six children per couple. All this said; the defining aspect of humanity is variability. There are much smaller and much larger specimens. Some live to 100 years old. Some pregnancies rear more than one child, and some of those children learn to make their own way from an unbelievably young age. Not a few have been raised by wolves, if such things are to be believed.
Humans make up a large portion of every major population save- perhaps- those in the wilds themselves. They come in all heights, shapes, colors, and sizes. From the pauper in the streets, to philosopher on the mountain, they apply their unique and varied skillset to purposes of their choosing. Some can be trusted. All are wily and endlessly curious.
"Taiyushan Humans" As the name suggests. Effectively Asian. Adapted to cool, humid climates and coastal diets.
"Islander Humans" Whisperborn Archipelago and Taiyushan colonies. Effectively Punjabi/Oceania. Well adapted to hot, humid climates and marine diets.
"Winter Humans" aka Northern Congura/Mechai. Basically Russians/Germans. Adapted for cool, dry climates with alpine diets.
"Western Humans" Central Congura. British Islanders. Adapted to cool wet climates with temperate diets.
"Plateau Humans" Juliano's, much like European Colonists and aboriginal peoples. Adapted to hot dry climates with sparse diets.
The Sundering is only the latest in a very long line of cataclysms the humans have survived and rebounded from. Some scattered like cockroaches and emerged in colonies across the corners of the world, while few ascended like eagles. There were as many ways to survive as their were survivors, which granted extreme individualism to an already diverse people. Some became noble, others became monstrous, and many fell somewhere in the middle. ‘All the angels, all the demons, all the heavens, and all the hells are within you.’

Legends and lore:
Resilient, persistent, variable, there are as many heroes as villains among the oldest mortal race.
Common:
- Wanderlust is a common trait in a creature so prone to melding with and forming their surroundings. Human explorers are common, and who can say international trade isn’t just an excuse to make money while seeing the world?
- While not as dependent as Azuma, most humans get through their daily routines by way of placebo. Some are coffee fanatics, others just love chocolate, still others aren’t quite right if they don’t have quiet times to themselves ever morning. It is these small enigmatic needs that may be the deciding factor of staying human.
- Humans not only set the foundation of modern culture, they wrote the book on how to dismantle it. Anywhere a group of humans gather, they develop their own set of customs and expectations that they hold dear.
- Some humans have true servant hearts, and others are only out for number one. Some are worthy of peerless trust, while others ought not even see the palm of their neighbor’s hand.
- Humans bear no unusually strong immunity, have no biological armor, and no built-in weapons unless altered by the winds. Still, they tend to be remarkably hard to kill. A soldier may die of sepsis from a pinprick, while a farm girl may learn to walk again after being within point-blank range of a magical explosion. What decides this may be chance, or it may be a peculiar strength of will in some individuals.
- Living paradoxes. Humans will hold convictions about the strangest things. Only a very few are truly introspective. Perhaps this is the origin of the mythical ‘spice of life’.
- No human is without fear, but few humans ever hold the same set of fears. A common one is death, but there are those to whom even this is of no concern.
- The greatest humans are subject to abysmal failure. The poorest vagabond may become a hero out of nowhere. Humans love to tell stories of such people. They may hate or love the protagonists but they always relate to them. For being so diverse, they find commonality wherever they look.

Plentiful in the world and working in most fields, Humans are arguably the most versatile of all races. The foundation of the development of most races, they are the oldest surviving race in the world. Their appearances are the most diverse of all creatures, and their wide-ranging ambitions lead to a people that have survived throughout every disaster and war the world has suffered.
