Dustreakium
Dustreakium is a mineral named for its abundant presence on the planet Dustreak. It is mined chiefly by the kinjana, who use it for their swords and other close-combat weapons (and sell what is left over).
Properties
Material Characteristics
In its ore form, it appears to be grayish and lumpy. After being refined, it is a pale light-purplish in color, and mildly shiny.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Dustreakium is a metal. It is not its own element; it is naturally formed by other elements. While it is unexceptional in its durability, it is extremely lightweight, which is prioritized by the kinjana due to their swift combat style.
Geology & Geography
While its current main source is mines on Dustreak, Dustreakium has been found in decent amounts on few other planets scattered around Inner Space.
Origin & Source
It is mostly found in large veins of ore, usually a fair distance away from other natural metals. It is most commonly found on planets with low amounts of atmosphere.
History & Usage
History
Dustreak was the first planet visited by the kinjana once they reached the “space age”, and thus dustreakium has been utilized in combat for a large amount of kinjana history.
Discovery
It was first discovered by an automated rover the kinjana had placed on Dustreak, but its usefulness was not fully realized until space travel was made accessible to the public, allowing entrepreneurs to acquire it in large amounts.
Everyday use
It is mostly used by the kinjana to make swords, knives, and other close-combat weapons, but its low weight and metallic properties make it useful in several mechanic applications.
Refinement
It is purified and smelted similarly to most other metals.
Reusability & Recycling
Damaged equipment made with dustreakium can be melted down into scrap metal and reused for new equipment.
Distribution
Trade & Market
It is mainly sold by homeworld kinjana, making up a large portion of their economy.
Type
Metal
Rarity
It is found on few planets, but due to its exceptional abundance on Dustreak, it is considered a semi-common material.
Melting / Freezing Point
~1500° C
