For over a thousand years they watched from the mountain, training, preparing. They didn't really know what for, until they did.
Structure
A group of senior monks lead the others, but the organization is fairly loose. The traditions of respect are followed closely though, and thus whoever is the most senior ultimately leads.

History
The monks at blackrock go back over a thousand years. Before that they were a wandering order. The original purpose of the order has been lost, much to the shame of the most of the monks. There was something in their past that they were to preserve, but in the years of transience and turmoil it was somehow lost, and they adopted a more general mission to prevent tyrants from becoming established in the wide north of The Republic. Scribes still searched for their original purpose up until the organization's destruction at the hands of an unknown party in 3179.
