What happened here?

Bunty laughs bitterly at the absurdity, either of your question, or of the answer she's about to give.
"A beast! A great black beast crashed through! I canna believe it, and I daresay that's no the thing to say to you as the Law, but as I am here, I saw it with my ain eyes."
She gestures around uselessly to the filthy water and the broken shelves.
"I can't say if the blood came from the beast's ain body, or if it came frae somethin that the beast brought wi' it, but you can see it spattered over my tiles."
There is a lot of blood over at the Belfast sink behind the shattered serving counter. Water is still pouring from the tap into the white enamelled basin, which is hanging desperately to the tiled back wall. You go over, your shoes splashing through the accumulating muck, and examine the pipework. To your surprise, you find it undamaged. You stop the water simply by turning the tap off, and the resultant silence seems to clear your head.
Could this really be the work of The Devil?
