al-Bahr Taun

The sea is outside the kingdom walls. Nobody has been out there for centuries. But Adira, the Founder told them she and her crew had only just escaped the clutches of the plague. Anyone still out there was dead, or worse, and they could never leave the island. And so it was never again discussed. The wall was strengthened each year, and nobody ever ventured out. It didn't help that every so often - sometimes years in between - a boom would shake the very foundations of the wall keeping them safe. (It helped Adira's cause, that's for sure). That boom, sporadic as it was, was enough for the civilians to be compliant, complicit. Because it sounded terrifying, and threatening enough.
