Appelby

A smaller but still important harbor city on the border of the Sand sea, not too far from the sea, built around a fruit tree garden. Appelby is a very rich and high-class city because of all the mines located nearby. The smell of salt and seaweed, mixed with exotic spices is constant. It also has a bad history with slaves.

City Details

-The Long-robes/The palace keepers When the town was built, those who had the most powers were those who had come to own the mines. These families started meeting, and were joined by their high-class, educated friends. With all the money and reputation, came the power, as these were the people who formed a government. Officially named the Palace Keepers, they are often referred to as the long-robes in common tongue, simply because of their long, lavish robes.     -The Dust runners   Even though Appleby’s military, and their population overall, is very small compared to the other cities, they have a lot of military power. Appleby’s defendant’s are called the Dust runners, who are a group of individuals highly skilled in fighting. They are trained in all types of combat, with all sorts of gear, but typically dress in very light, camouflage armor and fight up close with soovers and big, square shields. . The dust runners fight in small teams, with a few hand to hand combatants and a wizard or archer to back them up.     -Architecture   The houses and the walls around the city are all built out of hard sandstone. Most houses are square shaped and somewhat tall. There are a lot of decorated bridges and passageways. The town is also located by the sea, so there's a big harbor where ships can take the sea way to other towns.     -The Sapphire pool   Appleby’s big and famous bathhouse, where people from all over Inonaa come to relax. The water has a secret mineral sprinkled into it which colors it sparkling blue and is said to purify and strengthen the spirit.     -Strict laws and slavery   Appelby is one of the richer cities and at the surface, most of the population are well educated and few work hard labor jobs. However, Appleby’s success is based on the work of a large number of slaves. Prisoners in Appelby are forced to work without payment. Appelby even houses prisoners from Branchville since it gives them a larger work force. The rules in Applebys are also very strict and punishment is high. So while people live good lives, they don’t have much freedom.     -The Glass garden/The Conservatory   A giant house made out of glass, where fire is always burning to make sure it's hot and plants from all over Inonaa are collected and preserved.     -Fruit Trees   In the middle of Abbelby, on the largest patch of grass grows hundreds of different fruit trees. Most of them are tended to by slaves     -Great Farmers-only laws   Even though Appelby is the city closest to Ashhome, fire worshippers are forbidden from entering the city. This is because of conflict between high class-fire worshippers and noble farmers.   -College Dawnbreak A high end school where a lot of people come to study different sciences. This was one of the first schools in Inonaa, and is still one of the biggest.
