Pre-Inferno Anxiety
Back on the blockheads' homeworld, the sun cooked people those who left the shade during the summer. The term for summer in their calendar is synonymous with "inferno". Obviously, the month of Inferno was something to be wary of. This manifests as an anxiety that develops in the later days of Not Inferno for a lot of homeworld blockheads, particularly those whose lifestyle or preferred forms of recreation involve going outside. It's the most common form of seasonally-occurring mental illness among blockhead populations.
Pre-inferno anxiety affects most surviving members of the six-and-sixty crew of the FIEBE, especially those who still operate on the Blockhead Calendar. Blockheads born on Inom are only in any sense affected by it when young, impressionable, and having recently been told about the month of Inferno.
Transmission & Vectors
It's just a natural mental illness that only arises in certain circumstances. Its only "infectious" quality is that impressionable blockhead young can be made to panic about summer if they don't have many summers under their belt.
Causes
Pre-Inferno Anxiety can first develop only when it is prohibitively dangerous to go outside during the summer, although a similar illness could occur if it were dangerous in the winter, or the wet season, or the dry season-- this particular illness requires that it is summer that is dangerous. It occurs more in individuals who spend a lot of time outside when it's Not Inferno, especially if their time outside is for recreational purposes.
Symptoms
Common symptoms include indecisiveness, aversion to change in temperature, and feelings of inadequacy. Sufferers often neglect physical, mental, or emotional needs in the pursuit optimizing their summers, often overexerting or even exposing themselves to dangerous levels of heat in cutting it fine.
On Inom, sufferers are perfectly aware that summer is not lethal here but still experience these symptoms.
Treatment
Well, a psychiatrist could obviously help, but there's not many of those on Inom. One of the things which has helped sufferers on Inom, however, has been participation in a non-blockhead society-- leaving the Blockhead Calendar and annual customs & associations behind helps assert summer as non-dangerous more than simply experiencing a non-lethal summer day.
Prognosis
It'll be a yearly issue which, on Inom, will extremely seldom lead to fatal decisions. In most cases, it will simply make spring a time of anxiety and discomfort.
Sequela
All resultant conditions are the product of decisions made while influenced by Pre-Inferno Anxiety.
Prevention
Don't grow up on a world where the sun is lethal in the summer.
History
It's older than blockhead recorded history.
Cultural Reception
It's an understood and accepted occurrence on the homeworld, but on Inom, it's seen as very irrational and kinda dumb.
