History

It wasn't all that long ago that a group of Erudican scholars came together to build the universal Zaemrian calendar. Of course, at the time of its creation, it was far from being universal. It took them quite some time just to come to an agreement on how the calendar would work, studying the astrology of it and piecing it together bit by bit.   They agreed that, in order for it to become universal, simple ideas would need to be put in place. Each week would be ten days long and each month would consist of three days. They would pull five days of the year completely out of those months to help with this, considering that the year would have to be 365 days long due to their findings. The months would be named after the typical weather seen most widely throughout the continent, while the days of the week would be even simpler than that. They wouldn't add names to the years or eras as they saw it, as that should be something left up to each culture that adopts it. And so on.   Once the five individuals building the calendar came to an agreement, they first brought it to the Grand Mage of Erudica at they time. Once they signed off on it, the calendar first spread through Erudica, then its closest neighbors, and eventually through all eight human kingdoms of the continent.   As other races continued to trade with these human kingdoms and the Common was created and adopted, so to was the calendar, as it would be easier to agree to meetings and such with a common way of telling time.
