Wedding of immortals

In immortal district people know each other very well because they had most probably lived together in the same household.

Briefly

In the city of Wolfgaard immortal human families have tradition of wedding ceremonial. Due to their immortality no connection is permanate. Man and woman are connected for exactly 500 cycles (about 20 years) which is called Connection time. The first partner (mostly the only one who can has children due to the limited fertility of women) is called the Origin. Divorce is not permited. If a couple want to live together another Conection time (which is rare but possible) they have to repeat the wedding ceremony and start the Connection time over.

History

This tradition has been established when many couples living together in the same house for decades started fighting very frequently and it also affected their production. In extreme cases the fights ended by death. Immortals found out that changing partners help them not being stressed if it proves the partner they love become a terrible choice - they have the 500 cycles to discover it. Men always stay in the house and women move to another man (with children). In most cases the next partner is a neighbor.

Execution

The marriage is executed exactly after 500 cycles (about 20 years) = Connection time.

Components and tools

There is only one significant item of this ceremony and it's the ritual daggers. New couple must demonstrate they are still immortal. At the same time they cut into left hand and show the blood is still dark black. After this ritual on the hand the scar remains.
