Half-Elves
Daulerim
For a hundred years, no human king had been of pure human progenyHalf-Elf is the name given to people of both human and elven descend. The term is first of all indiscriminate for parentage, the son or daughter of a human mother or elven mother would equally be called a Half-Elf. The term is applied mostly to anyone who is a first generation child of such a pairing. In other contexts it is also applied to those who have partial elven heritage, even if none of their parents was an elf. Half-Elves generally live in human societies, as it is much rarer for humans to integrate into elven society. During the first Age of Humanity, Half-Elves were a rarity. One particular example is Dauler the Great, who was born to an elven mother and a human father. With the dawn of the Second Age of Humanity, the Age of Dauler, Half-Elves became increasingly common. Dauler had many elves among his followers, who then chose to integrate into human society. This gave rise to a large number of children of such unions. Today, throughout western Illangar, a great number of humans, often in urban areas, have partial elven heritage. While first generation children between humans and elves are still rare, having partial elven heritage is very common. The human part heavily outweighs the elven one. Nonetheless most people are proud of having one or two elves among their ancestors. To some people the term Daulerim has become synonymous with humans of partial elven heritage, differentiating them from pureblood humans. There is however another term: Eilerim. This term denotes elves with partial human heritage. These live outside of elven society most of the time, but value themself as elves nonetheless. Their name goes back to the Aldrim. They practice an approximation of what they believe elven culture to be.
