Ebelan the Tyrant

Ebelan Temirn

There were Dauler, Astalan and their heir Irian, but there was also another one, who aimed to unite humanity. His name however has become one of infamy, Ebelan the Tyrant.
Ebelan Temirn, later known as Ebelan the Conqueror or Ebelan the Tyrant, is a daulerim military commander and later ruler. After the Wars of the Crownless and the continuing disintegration of the Empire, he was one of the few who, for only a few years, reversed this trend.

Early Life

Ebelan grew up in the delta of the Nostire, in the region growing to be the city of Malaral. The Temirn family were originally free peasants, who made a decent living trough the growth of the city. Several of its members also dabbled in mercantile adventures. After the Wars of the Crownless had ended and the Council of Lords was founded, peace and prosperity slowly returned to the land.

Military Career

As the third son, Ebelan had few chances of inheriting his father's land. He therefore decided to join the military. While the times had calmed down, smaller conflicts were not unheard of. The Lord of the Council were not always in unison and smaller feuds between their realms of influence were common. Malaral, as seat of the puppet-emperor remained mostly untouched, allowing it also to profit of the conflicts. While the Emperor himself had not much controll over his realm at all. The military commanders of Malaral exchanged favors with each of the lords in exchange for the Emperor's safety.   Ebelan quickly rose trough the ranks in this environment. At the age of 22 he already had considerable influence.

Grand Protector

The last Emperor to be elected by the Council was Garin Dauler in the year 292. The new Emperor was merely 14 years old during his election. The situation within the larger Empire was rather problematic at the time. A great number of lords were officially subserviant to the Emperor, but the Emperor was de facto powerless. Instead the Empire was ruled by the Council. This council however was no a united faction either. Each of them wanted to expand their own sphere of influence and power, yet they all controlled each other, by attacking those stepping out of line. The supporters of Garin Dauler wanted to have a loyal and maniputable Emperor in Malaral, while also having access to the military of Malaral. The Lords of Illangar hoped to usurp controll over the Malarite military.   Ebelan's own ambitions however countered this threat. He maneuvered his way upward. In 299 he was appointed Grand Protector of the Empire by the young Emperor. He knew that the Illangarians wanted to seize controll from him. With his new position however he successfully countered this incursion. During a military strike he captured Illangar and secured large parts of the Nostire as his new domain.

War against the Council

Altough Ebelan was offiicially acting under the command of the Emperor, his action against Illangar would eventually lead to a confrontation with the entire Council. In 305 the Council gathered anew to solve the matter and end the conflict. They knew that they had to get rid of Ebelan and of the Emperor. The Lord of the Council wanted to elect a new Emperor against Garin, but feared that such an act would be too bold. They instead decided upon a successor to Garin, being certain of victory against Ebelan.   Ebelan on the other hand paid no regard to matters official. As news came that a successor to Garin was elected, once he would pass on, Ebelan convinced the Emperor to abdicate and to dissolve the Empire alltogether, in exchange to asylum. Garin Dauler did so an officially ended the Daulerim Empire for the first time. Ebelan on the other hand proclaimed himself the rightfull ruler trough his military power alone. His daring act succeeded. He became to be known as Haiva Karren Ordolim or Talimë sha jayan Kartën a title, which translates to "Supreme Ruler of Humanity".

Ebelan the Conqueror

The Council of Lords was officially dissolved in 307 with the defeat of its last members. Despite having no connection to the previous dynasty of the Daulerim, Ebelan was gaining legitimacy in the eyes of the populace. His promise was to end the rule of fractured realms and return to the universal rule of the Empire. By around the mid 310s Ebelan had secured his rule over the heartland of the Daulerim Empire.

The Great Rebellion

Ebelan's Conquest lasted till the year 321, during which a great number of smaller vassals and realms rose up against him. There was no connection between the Lords of the Council and this new uprising however. Many of these regions considered themself vassals to the Daulerim Emperor, but not to the Council of Lords, nor Ebelan. The rebellion included regions as far away as Illodia and Aretina. The war was halfway between a proper rebellion and an invasion. Most of the rebelling realms feared an invasion by Ebelan of their lands and acted in advance. Some also considered to reinstall another Emperor, which many of them nominally still recognised.

Ebelan the Tyrant

The Great Rebellion failed and Ebelan was victorious. Moreso his punishment of the rebellious lord was severe. Every leader, who took part in the rebellion was indiscriminately executed. His retribution was seen as unnecessarily cruel, even by his supporters. Minor rebellions cropped up troughout the Empire, which were bloodily oppressed. Until his death, Ebelan remained undefeated on the battlefield. He was killed in his own home instead, by an assassin. Ebelan was succeded by a military regime of his generals. The military regime lasted astonishingly longer than Ebelan's reign itself, until it desintegrated completely in the 340s. Emperor Garin's fate following his abdication is unclear. At some points remnants of the imperial family fled from the capital after Ebelan's death. Their traces are lost from there on. Thus from the death of Ebelan, to the restoration by Irian Dauler, the Daulerim Empire, did de-facto not exist.
