Devils on the Doorstep

My first steps outside my family's province and what do I find? A crossroads city full of demons. Its truly incredible how easy it is for the most evil of creatures to take advantage of the weak wills of some people. I must continue to thank my blessings that I have been given the capacity to deny the machinations of those monsters but they continue to persist.   After a short journey through the lands of my people we ended up in Varok, a crossroads city built within our neighboring province. Upon arrival we were met with a pack of wolves being led by a Barghest! Jumping into action we were able to smite the evil creature and luckily I was able to pull one of the town guards from the brink. Once we learned about what the citizens of this city have been dealing with we went straight to the source of good within the city, the temple of St. Andral. Now I have little knowledge of St. Andral however when dealing with the Nine Hells one should always look for companionship from the heavens and if St. Andral is the source of that power than it is to them we shall make commune.   Apparently I wasn't the only one to think this as the citizens of the city had also gathered to ask the saint for his blessings. Mother Lucy, the cleric of the temple, met us and upon seeing our power asked for our assistance, someone had STOLEN THE REMAINS OF THE FOREMENTIONED SAINT! What devastation that such an important relic could be sullied let alone taken from their rightful place.   After a bit of digging we learned of Mick the gravedigger, a person with access to the tomb. On approach we saw Mick wilt and he immediately gave up his information. Another man, close to the temple as well, Henrik the casketmaker, had asked for the deed to be completed and therefore was the probable person still in possession of the remains. We knew he was the next person for us to connect with.   Before we could do that though, more fiends! This time three poor souls from the citizenry had their heads burst from their bodies as they had become vargouilles, nasty bat like creatures that cause the host to die so that they can reproduce. We dealt with them with haste and vigor, and though they were able to knock our bells a bit they were no match for our prowess. Now it was time to find Henrik.

A Hidden Secret!

Happy Shade once again my friends! It is truly a blessing to see Dim Daral in such a holiday spirit. This year has been very good for my family and our city, we continue to prosper as more and more visitors come to follow their passions and create incredible works. Just this year we added two more artisans to the higher ward, one of which is not a dwarf! Truly remarkable that work ethic is something you see outside the dwarven people and such ethic should be rewarded with resources and support. Nothing brings me more enjoyment than seeing what can be discovered both outside the walls or within, our visitors can very well be the greatest import we have.   Enough with the formal overview, today was one of incredible discovery! I know that I claimed that I would step back from the festivities this year, with new friends in tow I just had to take part in the mystery hunt within the tunnels. Call it showing off if you like but it does bring my heart such joy to use my skills given to me by Thautam. Out of nowhere however one of our stables of bulettes tunneled into the scavenger path in an unusual show of chaos. My new companions jumped at the chance to help calm the beasts and once that was completed we made our way down the newly formed tunnel until we found the ORIGINAL MINING CAMP OF DAGRAN!   An incredible thing to think that one of the greatest discoveries for our family might be within our own mountain. I do feel a small bit of embarrassment that myself and the other clerics let it be unknown for so long however I will use this moment of humility to remember that there are many secrets yet to be discovered! After touring the camp and gathering the rest of the bulettes we found a grand construct chained against the walls. This construct was so impressive and I returned quickly to my father to begin study of the machine. In the meantime we found some information regarding the motivational plaques throughout our training room, and could you believe it another secret was hidden right there in plain sight!   With a new adventure ahead to find the other constructs and figure out the histories untold I have finally received my blessing to venture out of our domain and trek the rest of the world!
