Third Age

On the day Ragnar passed a star streaked across the sky and hit the ocean. The impact formed a huge tsunami which hit the Bay of Sirens and washed over much of Delg and into the mountains, destroying many towns and cities and leaving the area flooded for years until the waters seeped away. Many of the waters collected underground and formed the sea-under-the-mountains. An earthquake struck the eastern foothills, opening fissures to the Underdark and allowing Duergar and Drow through. The eastern seaboard and the Kuanol Coast rose up over a kilometre into the air, and the singular waterfall at Mesifi became a series of four falls washing over the newly formed Kuanol Cliffs which stretched the length of the coast.   Upon his death, Ragnar's empire splintered. The dwarves began to emerge, but the flooded landscape had destroyed many of their settlements so they built water defences and retreated underground into their vast network of tunnels, halls, and caves. Mesifi, whom lost many warriors during the war and was left powerless once Ragnar killed all of the city's leaders and head of houses, became an independent city state. Galbreth never reformed. Elves emerged from Harthelen and mixed with dwarves, humans, gnomes, and halflings in the town of Harthmore. The wilds-across-the-sea were lost. The northeast kingdom of Ragnarök fell to 200 years of chaos, until the rise of Wolfsbane, who restructured the central plains into the Kingdom of Lefryn and suppressed the forming kingdoms of Darhaven and Tychacia in T.A. 238-9, concluding in the Month of Changing Tides with the Siege of Sandwall.   Campaign 1: Our heroes enter the world in the year T.A. 281.   Campaign 2: Our heroes enter Barovia in the Month of Darkest Night in the year T.A. 282.
