Sandmen

The Rocksands are home to the Sandmen, humans who chose not to align with any kingdom following the fall of Ragnar. The Sandmen kept to the hills and rocky dunes between Kingdom of Darhaven" href="/w/ilarium-Hardiman12/a/darhaven-article-1">Darhaven and TychaciaTychaciaTychacia for many years, surviving on the subsistence they could gather from the land and keeping good relations with and being assisted by the Pandeshian dragonborn. The dragonborn have not been ablel to send aid for several years however as they have needed to ward off the threats posed to their own water and food sources by Yuan-ti in the north.   This has led to the Sandmen trying to find new routes. Being driven to more desperate measures, some families have taken to raiding caravans belonging to Darhaven or Lefryn as they pass through the mountains. This has angered both kingdoms. Another route has been to try and move families down towards the forested lands of northern Tychacia, for food, water, and shelter in the fertile lands. The Tychacians see the kingdomless men as barbarians however, and are resisting this influx from the north through strength of arms.   The Sandmen are powerful, proud warriors but worked to maintain a diplomatic approach to Tychacia. When the Kingdom of Tychacia pre-emptively attacked Sandmen settlers and killed their men, this sparked rage in the Sandmen. The Sandmen kept face meant to defend themselves before attempting to return to diplomacy. However, they were shocked when King @Carmillan fell to their fighters in a surprise night attack. The response from Tychacia was swift and the new king Simillon rode out, only to also fall to the Sandmen.   The news of fallen monarchs has cast a dark shadow over Pandeshian/Sandmen relations. Pandesh received word of the war and cut off supplies to the Sandmen, feigning deafness, not wishing to fall between the warring humans. In the face of Tychacian demands, the proud Sandmen have no intention of swearing fealty to the new Queen Sara, and have instead moved to settle a safe area of the northern plains, secure in their warrior abilities. They take any caravans which wander too close and weigh every ounce of their people lost in the blood of their unrepentant enemy.
