Ifrinn

The continent of Ifrinn is one of deep belief in folktales and myth, magic is still fairly new to this world after it's sudden disappearance centuries ago and it's slow return has brought about new heroes and possibilities; for good or for ill. Beasts and monsters dwell in the darkness beyond the outskirts of civilisation and there are few heroes willing to fight them.   The only gods the world once had, the magic wielding Knight-Saints of old, have long since vanished and it is no secret that there are those who believe the beings their ancestors called gods have no influence nor claim over the mortals of Ifrinn. Even so there are still those who believe they are to return; that they will rise up when they are needed most and cast back whatever threat aroused them from their theorized slumber.   Scholars continue to unearth ancient kingdoms of times long since past, archaeological expeditions into the times of ancient men, some in the hopes of finding answers for the disappearance of the gods, others searching to uncover the lost past of the ones who worshipped them.
