The Gods of Idris-Summary

Idris has many pantheons of gods, all worshiped by different peoples throughout the world. Their creation myths are often contradictory, leaving theologians to ponder how the gods can manifest themselves through Clerics if the existence of some seemingly disproves the existence of others.   DJINN: Shazdeh of Flames, Bakhtiar of Oceans, Kharar of Skies, Miriza of Stones Few Mortals worship the Djinn, save for those in the kingdoms of Baathadir. The Djinn all value wealth and materialism, as they were responsible for creating the elements and the physical world at the Dawn. They are almost strictly neutral in any conflict, and their followers are expected to assist their worship with gifts of gold and gems to garner favor. However each Djinn has a chosen people that they tend to favor, and behave much more charitably towards.   SAINTS: Saint Ashuin the Protector, Saint Iun the Confessor, Saint Shinji the Valorous, Saint Delev the Loving, Saint Paeni the Charitable, Saint Halla the Resolute, Saint Moroscov the Wise, Saint Iemeroux the Guiding, Saint Ahari the Loyal, Saint Ishtar the Glorious. The Saints represent traditionalism and authority, and are most commonly worshiped in human kingdoms. Each of the ten Saints represents a value that its followers commit itself to, and reward clerics who work to convert followers to their ways. A follower of the Saints might beseech Moroscov for wisdom one day, only to then pray to Iemeroux or Ashuin when going on a perilous voyage. As a result Clerics serve the Saints as a collective, even if only one may grant them direct power in exchange for worship.   FEY: Bacho the Drunk, Sol’anya the Shadowed, Holda the Equinal, Sarastra the Lucky, Pan the Discordant, Brynn the Orderly, Yutragg the Hunter, Avalon the Moonlit, The Lady Clad in Tears, The Lovers, Emeria the Skymother, Helena Bloodalder the Witch Queen, Meliore the Snow Dancer, M’tumb the Rainbringer, Akembe the Autumn Harvest, Shilmetryu the Unfathomable, Isekthamnos the Immortal, Miriann the Wildmother, Tso’e the Shepherd, Ialia the Scorching, Morrigan the Raven, Pacachutec the Tinkerer, Bohdishtura the Knowing, In-Anah the Dream Thespian, Andwyr-Shae the Artist. (plus minor Fey Deities) The Fae represent Nature, Chaos, and the Wilds, and create and maintain the Spirit Realms. Their followers are typically those who chose to devote themselves to a master that serves a concept or aspect, instead of a virtue (like the Saints). Worshippers of the Fey are uncommon, but not unheard of in the mortal realms.   DRAGONS: Khalimath/Khalim, the Lord of the Red Dragonflight, Time, Destiny, Fire, and Creator of the Earth. Kolfazgaar/Kol, the Lord of the Black Dragonflight, Magic, and Death. Astratagorian/Astrata, the Lord of the Blue Dragonflight, Knowledge, and Lightning. Tanuraxazith/Tanur, the Lord of the Green Dragonflight, Evolution, and Natural Law. Eaxarazymuth/Eaxar, the Lord of the White Dragonflight, Silence, and Cold. Kwizatzhadarachk/Kwisatz, the Lord of the Crystal Dragonflight, the Dream Realm, and Psionics. Alygosenari/Alygos, the Lord of the Metallic Dragonflight, Preservation, and Metal. Ulgrothalaxramos/Ulgrotha, the Lord of Corruption, the Devoured, and the Nihil Dragonflight. The Dragons manifest in many forms, and take dominion over aspects of the physical world to bless their followers. The Dragons are known by many names across Idris, and are said to descend to meet their most devout followers (albeit in subtle ways). Through this more direct intervention, they became one of the most influential pantheons in shaping the histories and fates of various nations and empires.   DEMONS: Askaidon the Corruptor/Redeemer, Parzelon the Scheming/Ambitious, Elkyssia the Destructive/Natural, Lilith the Indulgent/Loving, N’huurg the Rotting/Verdant, Talirh the Envious/Just, Nhefir the Wrathful/the Kind, Khi Anar the Ruiner/Liberator, Q’yir the Frightful/Outcast, Ixar the Avaricious/Prosperous, Elmerhyxies the Prideful/Creator, Ghormh the Gluttonous/Content, Myre Ivi the Slothful/Restrained. The Demons represent the challenging of the status quo, progress, and opposites. The Demons are deviant gods typically outcast and shunned by mortals, but as a result it is no surprise that the outcast and shunned often find themselves attracted to them. They are defined by duality: each demon having an aspect of true savagery and evil but also one of progress and good. A common parable theologians use to illustrate this is the Demon God N’huurg; both a rotting mass of mold and flesh, but also a bringer of life and peace to the wilds.   DEVOURED GODS: Chernobog the Tusked, Polaris the Biting Cold, The Beast, Dagari the Fathomless, Delphion the Damned, Kentimane the Hundred Handed, Pioü Laing the Jaws of the Unsated God, Pihuenyi the Bloodcrazed, Zzerakk the Hivemother, The Nightwalker, Kazorrahk the Maelstrom, Vwylshae the Infector, assorted minor demigods. The Devoured Gods are monstrosities, long ago corrupted by the eldritch powers of the Beyond to desire nothing less than the destruction of all reality. They are almost exclusively worshipped by monsters in the wild.
