Meliore the Snow Dancer is the god of winter and the cold, chilling the world and rendering all land on Idris frozen and unchanging. She is a gentle and somber god of snowfall and quiet cold, content to wrap the world in her icy domain for three months each year. Meliore is far more passive than active, her obligation to the season of winter causing her to take little interest in influencing or guiding her followers. Winter is inevitable, and the cold will preserve, age, and subside. Meliore is also a god of age and time, and it is her cold breath that makes mortals' sight fade, knees weaken, and memory lapse with the turning of years. All eventually fall to the breath of winter, and their bodies are preserved in the eternal cold of Meliore. Strangely, Meliore has a final and odd domain over winter festivity and celebration. In times of cold and dark, she encourages all to gather and celebrate the year, just as the march of time makes another one inevitable.
TENETS OF MELIORE:
All must age and die. Do as much as you can with the life you have.
Winter is a time of passing, where the year’s end can be celebrated and remembered.
Have no pity for those who are cold; help them grow warm. Life dies in the winter only if unprepared.
Agriculture and civilization will die under snow. Move, hunt, and kill for sustenance.
Become as the cold winds are, swift and uncaring.
