Thysiaturge

The Class of Sacrifices

I'll like to thank Petrizani Martina for the cover art. She has a world anvil account if you want to view more of her work.
Thysiaturges are those who give up a piece of themselves to gain power. To become a Thysiturge, one must go to the mysterious Offer Company. Once there, they must sign a contract and detail what part of their body they are willing to give up. After the patient agrees to the terms, they immediately go into surgery to remove the part of the body they decided to give. Depending on what they gave up, the operation can take a few hours to several days. Once the surgery is over, a Thysitatuge is born.   The Offer Company uses what the patient gave to them to turn it into a weapon. Unfortunately, there is no information on how the Offer Company turns a body part into an armament. However, there are four observable quirks from them:
  1. You can associate the weapon's strength to how much the patient gave up and the value they hold to them. For example, an artist who decides to give up their eyes would have a more powerful weapon than someone who does not care for their eyesight.
  2. The more the patient gives up, the more potential the armament has.
  3. The armaments made by the company seem to be alive. The level of sentience varies between weapons. However, all armaments will react if the user's life is in danger. Since the armament and Thysiaturge are connected.
  4. The weapon one gets is entirely random. Sometimes the armament might be related to something a Thysiatuge did in their lives, or it could be an item related to what they gave up. It could also just be something that's not related to them at all.
After receiving their weapon, a Thysiaturge is free to set out into the world to become an adventurer. However, there's a clause that all Thysiaturges most follow. If the Offer Company requests from you, you must do it. If you refuse, they find you and either kill you or see why you have denied them. But other than that, happy sacrificing.

Career

Qualifications

There are no qualifications needed to become a Thysiaturge. All you need to do is sign a contract, and you become a Thysiaturge in no time.

Career Progression

Like all classes, Thysiaturges can rank up into advanced versions of themselves. Thysiaturges have three pathways they can go down.
  1. The first pathway is Emotion Foci. These Thysiaturges learned how to turn their emotions into weapons. Depending on the emotion determines the effect of the weapon. Their final advancement is Limbo Walker. Limbo Walkers learned to turn their sins and virtues into armaments. These weapons have gained the name of Ethereal Arms and have rather strange effects.
  2. The second pathway is Soul Foci. These Thysiatuges learned how to turn their soul into a weapon. While soul weapons are powerful, if it breaks, the user dies. Their master class advancement is Spirit Visionary. They slowly started to gain spiritual powers because of constantly taking their soul out of their body. Their main strength is turning other souls into weapons that they can use.
  3. The third pathway is Frame Foci. The Offer Company trusts enough with the secret of how they make weapons. Which means you can turn creatures into weapons. Fair warning, they're still alive. They later advance into Flesh Crafter. They are capable of making more advanced weaponry and creating armor.

Payment & Reimbursement

Like most adventurers, they get paid by completing their quest. Typically in XP, GP, and items. However, when the Offer Company has an assignment that needs to be completed, they will reward their agents handsomely.

Other Benefits

There are two benefits to becoming a Thysiaturge. One, gaining a supernatural weapon that you can not get anywhere else. And two, joining a network of agents that will have your back. Thysiaturges tend to stick together since they are in the same boat.

Perception

Purpose

Besides being field agents for the Offer Company, not one knows the reason behind their creation. Well, besides the heads of the company.   However, they serve as DPS in a team. Although, how they dish out damage depends on what/how much they sacrificed. For example, if someone gave up their vocal cords, they could have some sonic-based weapon.

Social Status

Some do not trust them because of their bizarre powers and shady dealings with the Offer Company. At the same time, some are neutral towards them and are even curious. However, they are still a soldier-type class. Because of this, they fit into any team composition rather well. Interestingly enough, some are sought after since they operate differently from other soldier classes.

Operations

Tools

Like all classes, they have starting gear. Besides picking between light and medium armor, a thysiaturge's preferred/required weapon is the one that got from the Offer Company. While a Thysiaturge can get their armament fixed, they must find it or suffer punishment if they lose it.

Workplace

Most Thysiaturges work out in the field. However some work in the Offer Company. It looks like a stereotypical office building on the outside and inside as well. However, there are hidden rooms where are training areas and places where they perform their surgeries on people.

Dangers & Hazards

There is one rule that all Thysiaturges must follow. Do not cross the Offer Company. If one of their agents breaks this rule, they will hunt you down and kill you. Unless you repent and make up for this mistake, do not cross them under any circumstances.

CREATION OF THE CLASS

I based the idea of Thysiaturge on two things. The first is the familiar trope of the "Handicapped Badass." Despite a swordsman missing their eyes or possibly one of their arms, they're still considered pretty deadly in their universe. The second thing I based it on was fighting games—specifically, Guilty Gear and Skullgirls. In both games, some characters are either missing vital pieces of their body or giving up something and have gained power as a result. So combing these two ideas of sacrificing and losing, I made the class Thysiaturge as a result.
Demand
Thysiaturges are in low demand because most people do not want to give up a piece of their body when there are easier ways of obtaining power. However, this never stopped people from making contracts with the Offer Company.
