Republic of Unora

The Republic in the North. A place where all had the right to say into running of their nation. Harsh and unforgiving North seen as barbaric and primitive for centuries, yet it was the beacon of democracy among the five continental-nation-states

Structure

The Republic is ruled by Congress of the Republic, which comprises of Lower Chamber and Higher Chamber of the Congress, who have executive and legislative power in their hands. While the judiciary power is in the hands of the High Court of the Republic, who is ruled by Judge Magister of the Republic, who was appointed by President of the Republic and held office for his or her whole life once appointed. The President of the Republic was only a representative position on Unora. The President had only a little amount of political power over the Republic, his biggest political right was to appoint the Judge Magister of the Republic.

Culture

The culture of Unorian Republic was formed by hundreds of years of various feral tribes, who even in stages of their primitive cultures and social structure had their very own sense of functional democratic principles which were they key stone of their functioning societies.
They, ever since the times of the ancient past, valued a person's word more than anything, to break a given word or an oath was a deal sentence. Honor and justice were the driving force for most of the people, as well as it was a warrior's pride, too. In the ancient times, Unorians relied on raiding of other continents in order to gain wealth and resources, this behavior of Vikings remained in them for most of the time, and it caused their high value of honor both personal and on battlefield.
The North is harsh and unforgiving, and so are its people. They would not forget if someone had wronged them or made something which was seen as unacceptable by the majority. Such people - oath-breakers, murders, thieves, rapists, etc - would be either exiled to die in the wilderness or executed on the spot. This hate if criminal behavior survived to the times of the creation of the united Republic, which valued law and order among the most important things.

History

The Republic was founded by around 300 BU, as an result of signing of the Treaty of Hafragil, that was the biggest city with population of two million people, located in central Unora, which would later become the capital city of the continental-nation-state.
The Republic enjoyed three centuries of prosperity, growth and expansion. The time of its greatness ended with start of the Unification. During the war, Unora was the last place on the planet which was effectively fighting against the invading Icarian Imperium. They were fighting for three years, and seemed to emerge victorious as the last beacon of the free nation-state on the whole planet. Unfortunately for them, the invaders were too aware of the fact they might loose the war and so it was decided that should the Unification end by a final victory, Unora must be brought to heel by any means necessary. and so the order was given to drop weapons of mass destruction onto Unora. Republic was bombarded with nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. They were raining down from the skies as a mere rain. Soon, the Republic laid in ruin, with most of the total population of 300 million killed in the process.

Demography and Population

The population of the Republic comprised of many ethnical croups which either came from various parts of Unora, and also from traders, immigrants who came to the Republic from other continents.
