Southia

"The Land of Illusion"

F ounded by Volin, this country is known most famously for its capital city, Vinçon, which is the largest capital of all nations. A sprawling city-scape, in which the majority of the population lives. The city's architecture is unique in that the average building is hundreds of feet tall. The rest of the country is primarily flatlands, dotted with farms worked by the poorest of citizens. In this land, the wealthier you are, the more doors open up for you. Due to this, crime is rampant. Gambling is the nation's pass time, and cheating is encouraged.

Fertile Lands

The nation of Southia is located in a temperate climate, with mild winters and warm summers. The land is mostly flat, with gently rolling hills and wide, open grasslands. The soil is rich and fertile, making it ideal for agriculture, and the country is dotted with small farms and villages. The capital is built on a series of hills, with the tallest buildings situated on the highest peaks. These buildings are home to the wealthiest and most powerful citizens of Southia, who use their wealth and influence to further their own interests.
The flat grasslands are interspersed with small forests and groves, which provide timber and other resources for the nation. The country is also home to several rivers and streams, which provide irrigation for the farms and a source of drinking water for the citizens. The climate is generally dry, with occasional rain and thunderstorms.
Overall, the nation of Southia is a land of contrasts, with rich, fertile soil and a thriving agricultural industry juxtaposed with the opulent wealth and extravagance of its capital city. The grasslands and rolling hills provide a peaceful and idyllic backdrop for the cutthroat competition and greed that drive much of Southian society.

Life of Luxury

The culture of Southia is heavily influenced by the nation's love of wealth and power. Gambling and cheating are common pastimes, with many citizens seeing them as a way to get ahead in life. The nation is also known for its love of luxury and extravagance, with many citizens striving to outdo each other with lavish parties and displays of wealth. The cuisine is varied, with a strong emphasis on rich, flavorful dishes that are meant to impress and indulge the sense.
Music and the arts are also highly valued, with many skilled musicians and performers calling the nation home. The capital is home to numerous theatres and concert halls, where both local and international performers showcase their talents. The city is also home to numerous museums and art galleries, showcasing the nation's contemporary artists.
Southian society is highly stratified, with wealth and social status playing a major role in a person's opportunities and privileges. The wealthy and powerful members of society reside in the tallest of buildings, while the poor live in small villages and work farms. Despite this divide, there is a strong sense of community, with the citizens of each village and neighborhood working together to support each other.
Family is important in Southian society, with poorer extended families often living and working together. Marriage is seen as a way to strengthen social and economic ties, and arranged marriages are not uncommon. Education is highly valued, with the nation being home to several prestigious universities and academies. The mage college of Vinçon is particularly renowned, with many of its graduates going on to hold influential positions in government and society.

Those Who Live on Top

The nation is ruled by a monarchy. with the current ruling family being the House of Le Sueur. The ruler of Southia holds the title of King or Queen and is advised by a council of nobles and advisors, all of whom are chosen for their loyalty and willingness to do the crown's bidding. The current ruling family is known for its extravagance, and the royal palace is said to be the most lavish in the world. Ultimately while the ruling monarch has authority over the nation, they do have a council. This council of nobles serves as a check on the ruler's power, but they are beholden to the ruling family and often act in their interest.
