The Land Beyond the Waves

Ryo is a large island nation split into six clans. The people are those of the original races that left and crossed the vast ocean. During the time of their crossing, the ocean currents were smooth, however, after establishing themselves, they soon found the ocean had become turbulent and dangerous to cross. A thick fog also soon surrounded the island, making it near impossible to leave. Despite this, for many centuries, they have maintained peace and prosperity. Forming and dividing the land between The Clan of the Moles, The Clan of the Falcons, The Clan of the Frogs, The Clan of the Salamanders, The Clan of the Dogs, and The Clan of the Cats. Each clan specializes in a specific elemental Bijutsu, though any person can learn any element. The Clans have currently entered into a civil war initiated by Monsutā of the Salamander Clan after the weave (and by extension Bijutsu) was created. The five clans have united against the Slamander, and are losing rapidly. Other classes are rarely seen here, as most people use Bijutsu or nothing. On the difference between Bijutsu and element shaping, Sifu once said

If element shapers wield their chi like the great oceans which slowly carves the land, then a Bijutsu user commands their chi in the way the rapid current of a river smoothens a stone in little time.
