The Cathedral

The Cathedral is perhaps the safest of Khromarium's boroughs. Even in a city infested with crime, The Cathedral's streets are safe and well-kept, and going out alone is not a death sentence.
However, every resident of the borough buys and pays for this safety dearly in oppressive, theocratic order. The Cathedral's name comes from the enormous, gothic cathedral that dominates the area. It is a relic from at least pre-Green-Death era of Khromarium, but some even suspect that parts of its foundation come from the Atlantean era. This cathedral is run by the Archpriest Badanos Irganos, a representative of the spider goddess Tlakk-Nakka. By extension, he is the Boroughmaster of The Cathedral, and imposes harsh punishments, strict curfews, and steep tithes in addition to the civil taxes.

Government

There is a strict 10 o'clock curfew. Gambling, immodest clothing, sexual deviancy, alcohol not used for sacraments, and working on holy days are outlawed. As such, taverns are strictly prohibited.
In addition, church attendance for the residents is mandatory. However, Badanos knows that he cannot stifle the religious beliefs of his people, so he does not prevent them from worshipping their own gods so long as they make at least ceremonial observation of Tlakk-Nakka worship. Still, Badanos makes it clear that should any of the other faiths get too uppity, he would be most displeased.
