Personal history

Many years ago... or was it days ago? There once was a boy... or was he already a man? Who use to have constant nightmares each night when he would lay his head down to rest. What those nightmares were he no longer knows for one dark night he called out to a Baku, a dream eater. So exhausted and fearful of the nightmare he begged the spirit to take it from his mind. He did this for weeks... or was it months... or years? Eventually a Baku heard his call and came to the boy as he fought through sleep. True to the boys plea the Baku devoured the nightmare... yet it was still hungry. The Baku decided to also devour the boy’s other dreams the nightmare had prevailed over... yet it was still hungry. The Baku then fed on the boy’s hopes and desires and they were a fine meal to be sure... yet it was hungry still. Finally the Baku fed on the boy’s memories and emotions leaving the boy hollow and empty. When the boy awoke he was confused, but without fear, he stood up and snuck out of whatever dwelling he resided forgetting it quickly as it was now unfamiliar to him. The boy began walking. He walked for a long while until collapsing from exhaustion. That is when a new dream formed one that he would have every night after the incident, the dream expanding slowly as time passed.   The dream being thus: A small blue rabbit runs through the forest his feet going faster than they have ever gone. Above him he can hear the screech of an owl. Is the rabbit running out of fear? At first you cannot be sure as the beating of its heart seems to suggest that it is. In an instant perception changes however as you see the rabbit quickly begin hopping into the tree towards the screeching. He leaps from one branch to another heart racing and legs pacing faster and faster towards the fading screech. The rabbit eventually makes it to the top of the tree and he sees where the screeching originated as a small black owl is being taken away by a much larger prey but its form is lost in darkness. A single flash later our view shifts back to the rabbit... it feels sad... the boy to feels sad…   The dream fades.   The boy or in this case the man who now wanders seeks information to make himself whole and to make meaning of the dream he continues to have. The small feeling of sadness the only bit of emotion he still experiences each time he awakens. After the dream was better formed the boy began sculpting and wearing a mask that mirrors that of the hare and began using the name Usagi Ao (blue rabbit).

After his run in with the Baku, Ao became empty in feeling and desire which left him roaming without a cause. It wasn't until his new dreams started manifesting that he realized a large piece of him was missing. Finding "himself" and interpreting his dream are his only goals, how he accomplishes said goal he doesn't know. Perhaps finding a Baku would aid him? Until then he continues to travel and search unafraid of the paths he travels in order to find his answers and unknowing if those paths will even provide such answers.
