Stables

Purpose / Function

Not just stables, this complex of buildings and pens holds horses, hawks, livestock, and even stranger animals kept by the students. Or, occasionally, students that are animals.

Architecture

Main Stable

Long brick building with wooden box stalls. Holds up to 48 horses at a time. Contains a large hay loft. Opens onto a practice ring.

Foaling Stable

Smaller, kept warmer, with six double stalls.

Livestock Barn

Contains space for goats, pigs, rabbits, and poultry. Has a substantial yard with a goat tower.

Dairy

Housing and milking stalls for the 12 dairy cows kept for the school kitchen.

Paddocks

Green grazing space bordered with hedges. A few covered areas for animals to seek shelter from inclement weather. Most of the animals spend all day here during summer and at least part of the day here in winter.

Mews

On the far side Individual pens with wire fencing on all sides and top and wooden shelters within. Can be rearranged to accommodate an enormous variety of current or potential animal companions and familiars at need. This is where most of the classes that meet at the Stables actually meet.
