Dovecote

Purpose / Function

This is the dormitory for the wisdom casters; clerics, druids, and rangers. Houses 144 students, 6 resident maestri, and an unknown number of small animals both invited and uninvited. Originally, this structure served as the actual dovecote supplying the castle, but was made over when the school made the decision to start offering wisdom casting courses. No one is actually certain they bothered clearing the doves out first...there seem to be a lot still about the place.

Alterations

When built, this structure was basically a big empty domed cylinder with shelf-like perches lining the walls and a rotating ladder in the center. The ladder is gone, though the shelves remain, and the interior now consists mostly of 4 curtained off rooms on each of 9 floors leading to galleries ringing a central spiral staircase. The top floor is common space and the ground floor is individual rooms for the maestri.

Architecture

Huge and ornate for a dovecote, this place is a little snug for the number of people who live in it. The outer structure is Middle Dynasty Dwarvish, having been built at the same time as the Main Building , with carved stone walls drowning in vines. The windows are many and small, leading to an airy, but not open feeling. The interior is mostly wood, some of it carved, some simply grown into place.
