Rockfeld
Population: 6,000 (70% Human, 20% Tiefling, 10% Other)
Government: Rockfeld is run by the Forglaerden tiefling family. The family has built a monopoly of all of the possible goods and services of Rockfeld and has thus taken over almost all of the town.
Defense: The Forglaerden family hires a mercenary group of around 100 standing well-trained soldiers, who do their best to protect the village against a variety of threats, including the prevalent harpies of the island. Because Rockfeld is in a rather inconvenient location both geographically and topographically and no one knows how the Forglaerden family can afford to keep their prices manageable, so the town is largely left to its own devices.
Commerce: Rockfeld is very difficult to keep in working order. The surrounding terrain is almost completely barren, and harpies infest the islands, picking off whatever villagers they can get their claws into. The village mostly accommodates for their needs by servicing ships and supplying them with rations. Since food can't be grown in Rockfeld, they have to ship food in from surrounding residences. The Forglaerden family mostly controls the sale of food to the residents by making large amounts of money by selling rations and services at prices lower than should be possible for the family without losing money.
Organizations
Rockfeld is controlled primarily by the Forglaerden family, who don't fall under the jurisdiction of The Buqeuse Republic, The Manyfold Kingdoms, or any other political factions.Mercenaries
The mercenaries of the island hired by the Forglaerden family defend against harpies on a semi-daily basis. Because of this, they all often wear wax in their ears whenever on duty and function off of signs and gestures, refusing to listen or talk to any individuals. This doesn't necessarily make them unable to defend against harpies however, as the terrain of the Islands of Folly is very flat and it is easy to say things from far away. The mercenary groups are partway between organized and chaotic, with inner conflict al but removed but no order of officers to direct actions. The mercenaries are hired by the Forglaerden family, so they act in that family's interests. They will often ignore harpy attacks against those who have acted against the wishes of the family, and will act first for the family, second for allies of the family, third for visitors to the village, and fourth for everyone else.Forglaerden Family
It is unknown where the Forglaerden family actually mainly resides. The roughly 10 or so family members that show themselves in public don't do so in the mornings of evenings usually. The family is rumored to have ties with unsavory individuals, which can range from The Violet Pathfinders to The Sea Banshees, depending on who you ask. In reality, the family oftne leads bands of outcast pirates or former members of The Seamaiden's Soldiers in raids on passing ships, taking all of the cargo for themselves, often selling the more expensive items anonymously and selling or using the rations and shipbuilding/maintenance supplies to support Rockfeld's commerce and population. The family often allows visitors or relatives, particularly Tieflings, to enjoy accomodations within Rockfeld, resulting in a high Tiefling population. The family is generally seen with a positive outlook from those outside of the village, who have mostly forgotten that the family is force that caused the dependency that the village has, and they instead acclaim them for protecting the village for free.
