Once the sole ruler and proprietor of all that is, the Empire of Hespera stands tall as a bastion of life in an increasingly dead universe.   Millions of years ago, a species of sapient parasites rose to power, defeating the human nation that then controlled the universe, created the Empire and were eventually defeated by another species, as the Cycle of Empires dictates. The remaining hesperans lingered on never returning to their past glory but also never fading into irrelevance and extinction.   In the present day, the Empire has turned into an organic, expansionist, semi-xenophobic and bureaucratic hell that limps along only thanks to it's bureaucrats and administrators all having a vague awareness of what may happen if they don't do their job correctly.   In the centre of this fortress of order, the manorial capital of Hespera finds itself suffering from a social revolution: the Sibyans, a fallen people living among the desert ruins in the continent that is their namesake, have once again risen from nomadic tribalism, united in the form of the oligarchical Sybian Council and intent on ending the corrupt and uncaring aristocracy of the capital.   Yet, the social revolution is far from the greatest problem for Hespera, as, once again, ancient enemies of Hespera are preparing to invade the Capital, and few seem to care
