Kwa’chir’hoo’kah’tu’a

Mayor of Leetown

A Cha'ari closely resembling a peacock, Kwa’chir is one of the two founders and unofficial mayor of Leetown.

Description

One might expect the “mayor” of a place as rugged as Leetown to be just as rugged, but Kwa’chir is a cheerful ray of sunshine in bird form. He stands out from the drab washed out browns and yellows of the landscape, though his brilliant plumage is often dulled by a layer of dust or sand.   He is in a single stroke both an excellent administrator and kind of a ditz, having seemingly a finite amount of concentration that he is able to apportion at any given time. Kwa’chir is the sort of person who will put his shawl on inside-out, be told about it, say to himself, “Oh, I’ll fix that in just a moment,” and then completely forget that the exchange ever happened. In the same stroke, he can be relied upon to remember every single miner’s schedule at all times of the day if one of them should go missing.   He is a bit easy to make fun of, and long-established denizens of Leetown often affectionately do, but the town is in general protective of their benefactor, and will not tolerate rudeness or cruelty from outsiders (even if Kwa’chir is likely to turn the other cheek).

History and Career

Originally from Stone's Throw, Kwa’chir has lived in or near the desert all his life. He got his start by doing small-scale prospecting, specializing in finding minerals that were more valuable for their utilitarian value than their ornamentation. Mollie Lingeld often accompanied him as a gun-for-hire, offering her services as a bodyguard, and eventually became his constant companion.   The discovery of the large pyrite deposit in the stump was a stroke of incredible luck, and between Kwa’chir’s people skills and Mollie defending his claim with her calm and cunning, they established the firm foothold that cemented Leetown’s place today. He maintains a good relationship with both their clients and counterparts in The Cartographer's Guild, as well as the few Vrii they have established lines of communication with in Cirros Mot, the Frozen Mountain.
