December is almost around the corner, the month that makes its last stand before the year ends. For me, this December will mark the end of an especially tough year; my energy levels have reached lows that I had hoped never to see again which has challenged me in ways I never imagined. However, that won't deter me from participating in one of the best challenges of the year — albeit with some adjusted goals and mindset to support my current situation.
So, what is WaddleGrowler?
It is my version of this years WorldEmber. With my limited energy, I already know that striving for 10.000 words will sent me right back into creative-burnout-ville with high chances of not even being able to make it that far. Therefore, I'm going for a different goal:
Slowly (waddling) building a tiny piece (tip of iceberg) with the potential for much more (the bottom of the iceberg) - aka, building a growler, because that's the name for a tiny iceberg!
Everyone is free to join this more laid-back approach to WorldEmber! The goal is relative to the person, after all. Feel free to grab the badge ( [img:6117845] ) and boast about the amazing worldbuilding iceberg that you create this December!
Pingus! Pingus Everywhere!
I'm fairly sure that it doesn't come as a surprise to anyone who knows me that I
adore penguins and that I've been incorporating my spin on them in this world. So, that's what I'll continue to work on this WaddleGrowler! The residents of
Bahrid surely deserve a few articles about them.
If I can manage to write more than just the Pingus, I have plenty spots to flesh out and write about to fill in the new map drawn by the amazing
AP! I have a great many ideas for them and I'm pretty sure there are a few spots that might pique peoples interest.
You can find the new map at the bottom of the article. Let me know in the comments about what parts of the map you'd like to learn more about!
Of course, I will need some inspiration to put words on a digital page. I have bought a couple books this year filled with photographs of penguins, drawings of flowers and much more. One of my favourite things to do to get inspired is flipping through these books. I also have
a mighty science book on penguins for.. important reasons
tm that already have provided me with inspiration for some of the physical characteristics of my Pingus.
This year during Summercamp, I also discovered another great place for finding the most ridiculous ideas: streaming on
Twitch! So, I might do some streams this December for fun; likely during the week since I'm often away during the weekends. Otherwise, I hope to have the spoons to be active in the WA discord to cheer on amazing (new) friends in their writing adventures!
Staying true to myself is how I'll go about this WaddleGrowler. If I can write, awesome! If I end up doing something else, fantastic! As long as I'm having fun, it's a win in my book.
Good luck with WaddleGrowler! I love this idea. Also, that map is absolutely gorgeous <3
