Hemdal

A frozen, frigid world, wracked by blizzards and storms, and divided by a war eons past. A people built by gods for singular purpose and scattered by their whims. A Dawn, waiting beneath the ice. A place of wonder, and loss, and an inheritance long forgotten.   Inspired by the mythology of Scandinavia and the British Isles, the writings of HP Lovecraft and his contemporaries, and the tumultuous times of the Great War and its Second, when it seemed like everything was falling apart around us, and the apocalypse nigh, on Hemdal, Ragnarok has already come, and gone. The gods are dead or scattered by civil war, and their children scattered to the winds after the desolation of their home. To the North, the traitor gods work in the mists, and an Eldritch power stirs beneath the ice. And all else, the Hemdalyr, the children of the gods, are fractured and divided, warring among themselves as they fight off the harsh, unforgiving climate, and the raiders of the traitor gods.   But it is not a land without hope. After the loss of so much, so much is being reclaimed, and rediscovered. Industry rises from swords and shields to trains and ships, and with it, feudal systems give way to nations and democracy. Frontiers are retaken, cities rise, and over it all, those few remaining gods watch, and the Valkyrie stand their vigil, waiting for the reclamation.
