Helion

Helion is a vast continent of several kingdoms. To the north is the Skorsian Empire, a desert area with large scattered oasis. The home to the dragonborn, the empire had been at war with the rest of Helion, attempting expansion and enslavement of those it conquered. Only in the last 80 years has this war came to an end after a stalemate created by a elvish and human alignment resulting in a bitter peace and a border on a knife edge. The empire itself is divided on desires to return to the old ways and continue the conquest of Helion while others believe that the Skorsian warlike culture has no place in the modern times, that only through diversity, including other cultures, teachings, religions and politics will the empire truly begin to develop and become great again.   To the east in the mountains is the dwarvish and gnomish kingdom of Karuk-Kalith. Masters of modern technology the dwarves and gnomes combined their intellects to produce contraptions never seen before. Although isolated from most of inhabitants of the continent by land this has never impeded their progress. Building a vast navy and a small fleet of airships has allowed them access across the Isle save for the land of Orobous which has been shielded from outside influences by many enchantments. Unimpressed with such enchantment dwarvish stubbornness prevailed and an army was sent to Orobous on foot, not a single soul returned. Karuk-Kalith is an active partner to the human and elvish kingdoms promoting trade and heavily taxing those who wish to use their airships as they are the fastest mode with which to transport goods and people . To the west is the elvish Kingdom of Talia, a vast land mass sharing borders with the Skorsian Empire, the kingdom of Estermarsh, the human kingdom of Essinwold and Orobous. This region is covered with vast forests lakes and cities. The Talians, a very accepting people have allowed many refugee colonies of teiflings, humans and halflings to grown and develop into cities of their own where a diverse culture has been promoted, so much so that most couldn't tell where one culture ends and the Talians begins. Talia was the first country to be approached by the ambassadors from Orobous coming out of the enchanted forest that protects its border, this first contract brought with it 5 years of negotiations which has seen Orobous's border open and the first travellers pass from Talia into the unknown Eladrin kingdom.   Essinwold is they kingdom of the humans, with several communities of teiflings halflings and halfelfs. Located almost centrally to the continent Essinwold grew in an area of struggle and hardship as in the early days of its founding it was plagued by constant attacks, skirmishes and raids by drow and other fell creatures of the underdark. This resulted in the creation of the tri-region cities, a semi - triangular formation of cities around the capitol of Zanerhiem, placed to defend their own region and lessen the impact the raids were having by the formation of local Orders that recruited within their regions. The tri-region cities are Borkesh to the North, Moldavar to the south west and Anahid to the south east. After the region fought back and reached a state of stability the empire war broke out and devistated the Kingdom. Only after the Lords of Estermarsh offered help did the war come to an end and Essinwold began to return to a state of peace and prosperity.   Estermarsh, formed in the year 118 of the United calander is a tiny region between Talia, Essinwold and the Skorsian Empire. Originally a small marsh named the Ester, a during the empire wars, it looked as though Essinwold and Talia's defences were collapsing and Skorsian admitted would travel freely through their lands. It was only when estate owners from this small marsh land region made an offer that would see the end of the war did things change. Skorsian armies were defeated in scores in the marsh forcing them to concede and seek for peace as allied armies of men elves and dwarfs began crossing into the lands of the empire. The price of this victory and the end of the war was the ceding of the marsh and lands surrounding it from the region of Borkesh and Talia to the estate owners, this became the kingdom of Estermarsh and since its creation, hostilities have ended between the empire and the rest of the continent. Little is known of the region now as the estate owners (now Lords and Ladies of their own lands) built a high stone wall around the entire country and have it guarded at all times. Travellers are discouraged from going there, although not banned there is an obscene tax that has to be paid for entry into the kingdom and for a guarantee of protection from the Lords.   Lastly, the Kingdom of Orobous, of the Eladrin, shrouded in mystery by the enchantments that have protected its borders for so long has opened it borders. Through 5 years of negotiations the ambassadors have agreed trade routes be opened and the outside world let in. This land seems untainted by outside influences and has a very different and distinct culture from that of the rest of the continent. Through negotiations it has been evidenced that Orobous is governed by a ruling council, one wise individual selected from each of her 8 cities sits on the Senior Council and are said to divine the path that the kingdom may follow. Living in concert with creatures of the forest, the sea and sky the region sounds like a paradise, however not all agree with the opening of the border and it has caused open distrust between the Eladrin, the council, creatures across the land leading to an uncertain path that some are unwilling to follow. Sitting on the south east of the continent, its border surrounded by an enchanted forest and thick weaving mists, many travellers and even a dwarvish have been lost in its magical defences.
