Atsedenluzea (Longrest)

Atsedenluzea
For the purpose of the Common reader, the Evlish name of Atsedenluzea will be replaced with Longrest, the Common exonym for the same city.   Longrest is the most populous city in western Malnova (the third most populous in all Malnova) and the cultural, historical, and religious capital of the Elves. It's estimated population in 1350 T.R. was 450,000. It is located along the River Io and near the foothills of the Gorgo Mountains. It is currently the political capital of the United Kingdoms of Aborria.   Longrest traces its origins to a trading post and settlement founded by colonists of the Unuaviroj. The settlement wasn't officially administered as a city until 47 T.R., and was named Atsedenluzea, or "long rest" in the Elvish language, due to it being the first stopping point of the colonists. The Illargia, a religious symbol believed to be granted by their head deity herself, is housed here and is an international symbol of the Elves and their ideals of liberty and peace. In the 14th century, Longrest has emerged as a global node of creativity, social tolerance, nature, and as a symbol of freedom and cultural diversity.

Longrest is known for its pristine road system that is maintained at a great condition for the citizens of the city. There is a large network of parks and forests integrated within the city, giving it the atmosphere of being within the woods right outside its walls. The Eldin Bridge spans across the Io River that runs through the city, built in the same beautiful white marble that most of the rest of the city is constructed in. Due to the stone used for the Longrest , the city has the nickname of "The White City".   Along the River Io is the House of Illargia, where the holy Illargia is kept and Elves all over Aborria travel to witness.

History

The settlement that would later become Longrest was first settled by humans after the long march across Malnova and was the first settlement made in the Ebanajoj. It wasn't until 47 T.R. that the actual city of Longrest was founded, with the city walls being constructed in 197 T.R. It is the oldest and most influential city of the Elves, with history dating back to the founding of the Elves.   It reached its Golden Era from 700-900 T.R., where significant amounts of trade and immigration with the Human kingdoms to the east were established and allowed Longrest to become part of the international framework.   More recently was the Battle of Longrest, where the Aswye Empire attempted to break the walls and conquer the city for their own conquest, but was defeated by the Coalition of Longrest that was formed to defend it.

Geography

The city lies along the River Io, which runs through the city and provides the city with important trading routes and freshwater. Surrounding the city is forest and rolling hills.
