Zaryn Vex

Zaryn Vex, or 'Big V' as they were sometimes known, the galaxy's worst and suspect #1 of the destruction of the homeship, causing the cataclysm that scattered Haven's pioneers and splintered off many disparate factions.
They were once one of the pioneers who would have joined the second wave of settlers to land planetside. Finding the internal systems of the homeship easy to navigate, they became a perverse stowaway, derelicting thier duties and disappearing into the ventworks. Nobody knows what prompted them to forsake the master plan but many hope to find a personal journal that explains this someday.
After the second and third waves landed, the remaining crew of the homeship began to notice some of the signs of his occupancy, finding discarded food containers in strange places like behind access panels, and noting a slight shortage of ration packets. Several weeks later, Zaryn finally decided to leave the ship, stealing a mining shuttle to look for a place to build a hideout. Security personell gave chase but lost them when a radio bomb damaged thier navigational instuments.
Zaryn found a likely hideout location in orbit of the planets first moon, and simply waited for signs from the homeship that the fourth wave was readying. At this point he attacked from the night side of the moon with stolen mining harpoons, targeting life support. Within a few minutes, homeship systems were so damaged that the skeleton crew damage control volunteers were overwhelmed and fled in escape pods to the surface. Zaryn then followed after and began stalking the fourth wave evacuees for days while they attempted to hide and coordinate a regroup effort.
Without proper service, the homeship self-preservation systems were unable to compensate for the loss of life support and the sudden loss of the entire crew and began to enter an unstable orbit. With destruction and breach of the reactor imminent, the ship AI initialized a core ejection, deactivating and sending the reactor into a stable orbit of the planets second moon.
Zaryn picked up this activity on the miner's scanners and raced to the reactor to integrate the powerplant into his ramshackle space hideout, however they accidentaly overloaded the reactor during a test and destroyed themselves and the reactor in a chain of explosions that tore a large chunk of the moon asunder, creating a few hazardous meteors which later impacted parts of Haven, destroying a few settlements.
