Aldr Hagstrom
For millennia before history began, it is believed that norse people lived in the Develavikian Heartlands. It is the official establishment of the Develavikian Commonwealth that marks the first recorded year, 0 Postdevela. This early government was small, concerned exclusively with trade moderation. The architect of this early government, Tron Hagstrom, was given the title of Fyrir, an honorary title meaning superior. Tron Hagstrom had one son, Lars Hagstrom.
Lars Became Fyrir of the Commonwealth after his father’s death in 46 Postdevela. Lars was an ambitious and power hungry leader, and he greatly transformed the honorary title of Fyrir into a title of great power, and the mostly nonexistent government into a powerful counsel of peers. Under Fyrir Lars, the commonwealth saw great expansion, claiming vast amounts of territory and transforming from a city state to a nation state. Develavik was established as the capital city, and small burgs were built up along the Vene Vatn Valley. Fyrir Lars led the Develavikian Warriors in battle in the conquests of Sichan and Ruthenian Noviumia in 72 and 81 Postdevela, respectively. These were some of the deadliest wars to ever be fought on the continent of Hatraegrios to date, and peace would never truly come to Sichan as long as it remained in Develavikian Control.
In 90 Postdevela, Lars Hagstrom succumbed to bone break fever, leaving his only living relative, Svea Hagstrom, to the throne. Svea was given the title of Fyrin. Fyrin Svea was a far more compassionate leader than her late brother, and immediately after she gained power, began negotiating towards the liberation of Sichan. In 106 PD, a treaty was signed, which granted sovereignty and vital territory to Sichan, but left the land northwest, north, and northeast of Lake of the Crane in Develavikian Control. This became known as the Treaty of the Lake. Later that year, a treaty was signed with the nation of Noviumia which granted half of Ruthenian Noviumia back into Noviumian Control, in exchange for the vast majority of the isle of Volenskii, which contained vital farmland. In 113, an aged and decrepit Svea appointed her god-daughter Nicole Westermark as Heir To The Throne Of Develavikia, and declared that she was to be known as Fyrina upon commencement of her reign.
In 114, while on a recreational delegation to the Xunzhou forest in the far west of Sichani Develavikia, Fyrin Svea Hagstrom and every member of her cabinet were murdered in their sleep by a group of assassins, who, in the ensuing turmoil in Develavikia, were revealed to have been acting on the orders of the Kaiser of Todtia, Albert Kronthaler. Thus was the end of the Aldr Hagstrom, and the beginning of the Aldr Westermark.
Aldr Westermark
At the conclusion of coronation proceedings, Fyrina Nicole Westermark immediately began drawing plans for a full scale retaliation against the Empire of Todtia. Shortly after years renewal in 115, 340,000 Develavikian Warriors entered Todian Borders and marched to the city of Laubu, which they cleared of any residents (through means uncertain, though something dreadful surely) and converted into a makeshift fortress to serve as tactical headquarters. Kaiser of Todtia Albert Kronthaler of Karlslach correctly saw this as an act of war and sent 80,000 retaliatory forces to the Laubu-Adjacent village of Ron, which they converted into a barracks and tactical headquarters. For four weeks, both sides remained stagnant, until 100,000 Develavikian Warriors broke from Laubu and flanked Ron on both sides, while the 240,000 Warriors in Laubu began a siege of Ron. The battle of Ron lasted for eleven weeks, and saw an unlikely Todtian victory. Lost on the field of battle were 11,766 Develavikian Warriors, 26,070 Todtian forces and 131 Civilians of the village of Ron. This pattern continued mostly unbroken for six years until the Develavikian Lines had been pushed back to the border between Norse and Sichani Develavikia, when Fyrina Nicole Westermark penned a treaty that cemented the border at the lines, and ceased combat. This treaty became known as the Treaty of North Sichan, after the name given to West Sichani Develavikia by the Todtians after it changed hands. The result, according to later historians, was largely due to the unparalleled quality of the Dwemer smithing used by the Todtian forces and forged by the Dwemer for the war effort, which proved far more effective than the comparatively low grade Nordic Ebony school of smithing used for Develavikian weaponry and armor. This fact was widely publicised across the Burgs of Develavikia, bringing to the attention of the Develavikian people the Evil of the Dwemer.
In 124 Postdevela, Fyrina Nicole Westermark married Albert Lagerfeld, who became the first Antefyrir of Develavikia. The had two children, Edith Westermark and Wilma Westermark.
In 127, amidst growing public awareness of the malevolence of the Dwemer, Nicole Westermark made mention of her sympathy for their ‘plight.’ In response, dozens of righteous Develavikians stormed the palace and captured Nicole Westermark, demanding she recant her lies. When she refused, she was drowned in the Lake of the Crane. Albert Lagerfeld, who had made clear his firm stance against the Dwemer, was crowned Fyrir by default. Thus was the end of the fleeting Aldr Westermark and the beginning of a brighter future, Aldr Lagerfeld.
Aldr Lagerfeld
Fyrir Lagerfeld had no mercy for the Dwemer, and no less than they deserved. The small but strong population of Dwemer residing in Develavikia were removed, and relocated to an undisclosed location. The Develavikian/Todtian border was closed, and entry was prohibited to non Develavikians. For the most part, the Develavikian public stayed true to justice. Unfortunately, in 153, a small band of mercenaries suffering under some collective delusion, allied with the Dwemer residing in Todtia, and relocated them to Sofrostland, an uninhabited region of Develavikia in the far north. In exchange for this advantageous tactical positioning, the Dwemer created weaponry for the band of mercenaries in order to defend their new territory. Develavikian Warriors were assembled to flush out the Dissidents, however Fyrir Kronthaler saw that the land they had occupied was of no use to the Commonwealth, and ordered his men to stand down. Soon after, the band of mercenaries had fortified fences made from Dwemer Steel along their border, making any attempt at an invasion impossible.
As I finish writing this, the year is 210. Albert Kronthaler died of Plague in 184, and Edith Kronthaler was crowned the Sixth Fyrir and Third Fyrina of the Commonwealth of Develavikia. Her rule has been uneventful, though this serves as a respite. I hope one day soon she will gather the courage that her father never had and take back Sofrostland for the True Heartland.
