Harvica

The continent of Harvica has a history occupied by the idealistic concept of freedom. Ruled by a group dubbed The Free Men for centuries, the population operated under the presumption that daily freedoms were granted by birth and existence. However, after a group of Draconian nobles called the Orn'Kear seized forceful control of a majority of the Free Men's lands, it became apparent that some desired a change in leadership.   The new Orn'Keari nobles have done little to change the way of life for the citizens of the cities they occupy. In fact, their presence appears to be most mysterious - a single noble will not remain in a city for more than a few months before leaving. It is common knowledge that the nobles are dragons, in the guise of their human forms, keeping a close eye on their citizens, as their paranoia for uprising is the primary focus of their law enforcement.   Despite all the mysteriousness surrounding them, the Orn'Keari are perceived by most of the public quite well. During the Draconic Usurpation, it confirmed the suspicions of the public in the Free Men's inability to protect their peoples from outside threats. The safety provided to the public by their new draconian overlords is received well, given that they have yielded very few of their freedoms in order to obtain it. However, those who are magically inclined may tell a different story.   The land of Harvica has never looked at magic users with warm hearts and open eyes. The Free Men saw them as superior beings, and would give better opportunities to the uninclined instead. This eventually turned into a form of significant discrimination. It's no surprise that the Nannan'Noach Stations, also known as Drain Stations, built and operated by the Orn'Kear see little opposition by the public. Their ability to sap the magic from magic users, returning them to an equal state with the uninclined explains their voluntary use by many magic users of the realm.   Harvica, under control of the Orn'Kear for nearly three decades, is now starting to breed those who question the leadership of the Orn'Kear. Some desire more present leadership. Some desire an answer to the mysterious happenings of the nobles. Most want to remain in their free, independent, and protected existence. As the minority views begin to gain traction, it is apparent that conflict is inevitable.
