Gamall

The Old Lands Gammall is a Country to the North of Harodra, just under the Northernmost continent of Kaldr. It is a dark land of brown dirt and mud, jutting gray rocks and billowing hills. But most notable are the immense pine forests that blanket this land known as the Stormwoods, capable of conducting electricity during dangerous weather. Gamall is an often gloomy area, known for great rainfall and grey skies. Storms are common and the winters blanket the lands in harsh, unforgiving snow. The lands are home to many wild beasts and monsters that crawl through the forests to hunt, but is also home to the largest number of civilised areas in Harodra.
Gamall was not always very populated, in fact only small areas on the coast set up by the Wolfstone kingdom existed. The sentient folk here were few and far between, mostly those from Kaldr heading south to hunt or to avoid the winter. Gods would often duel in these lands as there was little risk of any civilisation being destroyed. Their battles warped and shaped the lands into their hilly shapes. Gamall was nearly untouched by the Rift Sundering, so when Wolfstone was destroyed the survivors fled to Gamall on many ships, joining the locals and starting to form a new kingdom. The only survivor of the Wolfstone Royalty, King Odren “The Stormseeker” gathered all of the survivors he could and set about making a new Kingdom, to give his people the future they deserved.
The Stormseeker Kingdom Gamall is home to the Stormseeker Kingdom, the largest collective civilisation in Harodra. It started in the city of Farhold, built on a battle site between great deities. With knowledge they started to make a city here, taking the name of the Stormseeker Kingdom. As the city progressed, the kingdom sent out groups of many to find new areas to inhabit, or to annex any other civilisations they found. Gradually the Kingdom grew and grew throughout Gamall, earning a great deal of notoriety and increasing the population greatly. Though they were still a shadowed comparison of their former kingdom. If not for the strength and will of the common folk, the Stormseeker Kingdom would not be as it is.
The Kingdom are more advanced than nearly any other continent, though still have medieval tools to their disposal, some enhanced with runic magics found within the lands. The Kingdom has taken many Kings and Queens over time, currently ruled by King Ailen Stormseeker and his wife Queen Silan Stormseeker. The Kingdom is known all over Harodra, but not necessarily in a good light. Civilisation that wants to spread makes enemies, with most of Kaldr and Villr in deep hatred of how the Kingdom handles things. But for those who live within, the Kingdom provides enough safety and comfort to survive off. Even still, it may feel confined, settlements are few and far between - separated by the harsh cruelty of nature that has had to adapt to the new civilisations that have arisen in their lands.
The Stormseeker Council In the year 467 Post Sundering, a godlike being known as the Crooked Man wreaked havoc across Harodra and its people. The current king, King Fahr Stormseeker, could not defeat the creature on his own, instead receiving aid from a group of powerful individuals. They traveled to the Crooked Mans realm and slew him, causing King Fahr to create the Stormseeker Council in understanding that only one man could not rule alone. He appointed four of those adventurers to the role.
The Council has remained the ruling body of the Kingdom ever since, with members coming and going. However, the original four members have remained on the council since. Not aging or dying, seemingly cursed with endless life by the Crooked Mans power. - The Current council and its positions are as follows.
King - King Ailen Stormseeker is the current King of Gamall and the Kingdom. He is a respected, tough man with a proud and loving heart. The King has the final say in all decisions and can override any other if he needs to. It is a difficult position that comes with its share of prejudice and difficult decisions, but most agree that Ailen is a fair ruler.
Queen - Queen Silan Stormseeker is the current Queen. She is a popular figure among the kingdom as she came from poverty, but a mere servant to the royal house until she and the young prince Ailen fell in love. She is a diplomat first and foremost, but also a capable and deadly fighter.
Princess - Princess Hela Stormseeker. The only child of the Stormseekers, Hela has a honorary place on the council. However she rarely uses it, far preferring to explore the wilds of Gamall alone than conform to typical royal activities, much to her parents chagrin.
Royal Advisor - Mehrel Felsten. An elderly Half Elven woman who has advised the council for some time, she is well trusted by the Stormseekers. Her job is to help guide the council to the best decisions for the people of the kingdom, and to calm them down should things get heated.
High Commander - Sylas Ash’Tal. A Half Elven soldier well known for his tactical mind. He is a newer member of the council but has already proven great worth in battles against Villr. He is in charge of Gamall’s military forces and ensuring victory over any adversity.
Royal Treasurer - Lord Gregory Barnsil, a childhood friend of Ailen who has been on the council since the king was appointed. He is a pompous and large man who some say uses the money from the kingdom simply for himself. In truth he is deathly loyal to Ailen, but also deathly loyal to money.
Lawmason - Imperator Zeke, a Fire Genasi with a dangerous temper. The Lawmasons job is to create and uphold laws for Gamall citizens to follow. Should great crimes be committed then the Lawmason is expected to resolve them, often with an intimidating brutality to ensure they do not happen again.
Archmage - Vee’Ra of the Fallen Sanctuary. A triton and one of the original members of the council, Vee is an extremely powerful divination wizard. She used to study evocation and use it in battle, but changed after the love of her life was slain. She uses her magics to ensure the kingdoms safety and aid the council in magical means.
Chief Alchemist - Rathergeist, a mysterious individual and one of the original members. Rathergeist wears a plague doctors mask at all times and nobody knows his true identity bar the Archmage. He is in charge of the creation and distribution of Potions and Medicines across the kingdom.
Naval Commander - Sideon Sin’Afey. A Drow who has brought himself to a position of fame and renown, a former pirate who helped defeat the Crooked Man and join the original council. Sideon is a charismatic and playful character, in charge of the Kingdoms naval might.
Headmaster - Fyre. An Aarakocra who runs the Stormseeker Academy, teaching young fledgeling wizards how to use magic and better the world. He is a little scatterbrained, having seen a lot since he joined the original council. Still, he is well respected and intelligent beyond comparison.
The Freeguild Contract The Stormseeker Kingdom likes to ensure it knows what is happening in its lands, especially considering how isolated it all is. One of the Stormseeker Councils first decisions was the Freeguild Contract. In order to build or live in a building within Gamall, you must sign the Freeguild Contract. Your name, family and location are recorded and you must pay 1 Silver a Month to the council. This meant that when the money was not paid, inspectors could be sent out to see if death or an attack had occurred. If money continued not to be paid, or someone build settlements without the contract, the Lawmason would send Inspectors to arrest the perpetrators and sieze the building.
The law was quite debated by the citizens for some time, many simply could not afford to pay that much for living, so many gathered in larger homes with bigger families. Others simply built houses themselves and hoped they would not be found. Others took to nomadic lifestyles, wandering Gamall and surviving off the land or extra work.
The Contract is still in place, perhaps having done more good than bad. It has ensured that the people of the kingdom work and keep it running and to most 1 Silver a month is quite affordable. However there are still a large number who disagree with the contract and its tax, though the threat of incarceration by the Lawmasons Inspectors often keep people in silence.
