Uldien Religion
The churches of Larani and Peoni are tax-exempt in
Uldien. The Baron is a fervent worshipper of the Lady of
Paladins and regularly prays at the tomb of his ancestor
Uldine, also encouraging this practice among his family and
vassal knights.
His 2nd-degree-cousin Kolas is the Serolan of Uldien Abbey, personally ministering to the Baron and acting as his priest-confessor. Kolas is a veteran at church intrigue and works hard to spread worship of Saint Uldine and her canonisation, also to increase his own influence and importance.
The church of Peoni is very popular with the common man but also has the favour of the Baron's wife, who is often cared for by the priestesses due to her failing health. The local merchants have on occasion tried to curry favour with the Baron to establish a small shrine of Halea in Uldien, but all attempts have been very harshly rebuffed thus far – worship of Halea is allowed, but not encouraged.
This also applies theoretically to Save K'nor, Sarajin and Siem, but since no known adherents of these deities have ever lived in Uldien the point is mostly moot.
Worship of Agrik, Morgath, and Naveh, is punishable by death, usually by burning or drowning.
