Olokand Religion

The religious climate of Olokand is much like the rest of Kaldor. The temples of Larani and Peoni have tax-exempt status and receive endowments from the government and the nobility.
While Laranianism is the official religion of the royal household, there is no public temple to Larani in Olokand.
The spiritual needs of the nobility are met in the chapel within Caer Olokand.
Abriel Abbey, three leagues southwest of Olokand, is the seat of the Rekela (Bishop) of Nurez, one of four Laranian bishoprics in the kingdom.
Ilor of Hadan has been rekela since 714 and also serves as Bailiff of Nelafayn Hundred. He is a capable and pious cleric, little interested in secular affairs, who leaves judicial and financial duties to underlings.
The sheriff treats the abbey and hundred with a lighter hand than elsewhere.
There is a small temple to Peoni in Olokand which ministers to the local populace and houses a small infirmary. Many Ilviran pilgrims pass through Olokand on their way to Araka-Kalai and the Jarin traders tend to worship Ilvir as well.
Worship of Agrik, Morgath, and Naveh are punishable by death and, unlike many areas of Kaldor, this law is rigorously enforced by the sheriff.
Other religions are tolerated but not encouraged.
